We finally have a clear look at cover created by Masahiro Ito! Tell you the truth I’m pretty disappointed and I’m not fond of this cover at all. I much prefer the US and PAL ones… I think what bothers me most about is how the game logo is just slapped on there. It’s not integrated with the artwork at all. The cover should have stuck with the text only logo like the US and PAL covers did. I find the logo with the town background really takes away from the impact of the artwork and over all it looks way out of place. I’m not really digging the subject matter of this cover either as I’m getting neither a Silent Hill or much of a water feel from the screaming and slightly distorted person.

What do you guys think?

Thanks to Alchemist pointing out in the comments that this is actually a Korean cover using Ito’s artwork. It was late and I just assumed it was the Japanese one lol. I updated the title 🙂

Rely on Horror Facebook posted what seems to be the cover art for the PAL release of Book of Memories. It’s not up on Amazon.co.uk nor the Konami Europe website and it lacks any rating on it so I’m not sure how official this is.

Konami Japan has listed March 29, 2012 and 4,980 yen as the release date and price of the HD Collection on the PS3 in Japan and even gave a picture of the cover! I doubt it will see an Xbox 360 release though… I have to say I like the American cover a lot better. What do you guys think?

The Book of Memories cover art features the cursed book and two shadowed hands reach out of the pages. It definitely fits the premise of the story and I think overall the cover looks nice though…I can’t call it one of my favorites. What do you guys think?

Amazon put up a cover art for the PAL Silent Hill HD collection. Looks pretty much like the US cover just with a weird “Classics HD” logo that seems to be on all the HD re releases (Metal Gear, Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collections). Though the thumbnail for the XBOX 360 version looks more like the US cover just with the PAL boxart instead of the US ones, but when I click on the page it says the cover art isn’t available still…so who knows that one could be without the “Classics” logo.

This is great news! Masahiro Ito the monster designer for the three first games in the Silent Hill series is currently working on a game cover for the Japanese version of Downpour according to a tweet he made yesterday!

Ito was also going make the cover for the Japanese version of Homecoming but it his design never saw the light of day since Homecoming’s release was cancelled in Japan. I remember I was pretty bummed about that since I thought the cover looked really cool. Hopefully Downpour won’t suffer the same fate, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with!
