IDW’s Silent Hill Downpour Comic all about Anne has a release date!

Well this is some wonderful news! It turns out we will see Anne’s journey through Silent Hill in comic form after all later this year.

During Wondercon 2014 IDW Publishing announced that their upcoming comic lineup includes the Anne prequel comic Tom Waltz teased way back in 2012. This new series will be called Silent Hill Downpour: Anne’s Story and is written by Tom Waltz with interior artwork by Tristan “T-Rex” Jones.

“IDW returns to Konami’s horror masterpiece! In the 2012 hit video game Silent Hill Downpour, players were introduced to Anne Marie Cunningham, the enigmatic prison officer bent on bloody revenge against the game’s main protagonist, Murphy Pendleton. Now, at last, fans can learn what horrors Anne faced during her fateful journey through Silent Hill’s fog-shrouded streets… and what led her to the terrifyingly cursed town in the first place. Written by Tom Waltz (writer of Silent Hill: Sinner’s Reward, Silent Hill: Past Life and the Silent Hill Downpour video game), with artwork by Tristan Jones (Ghostbusters, Hoax Hunters).”

The first issue has been given a tentative August 20, 2014 store release and will retail for $3.99. The comic will feature Anne’s side of the story and according to Tom Waltz:

“The entire story is based on a concept by Tomm Hulett, Devin Shatsky, and myself […] just after the release of the video game”

I am a big fan Waltz’s last Silent Hill comic series, Past Life, released back in 2010. Given that his last series was so good and Waltz also co-wrote the Silent Hill: Downpour, a video game that I also loved, it’s no surprise that right now I have very high hopes that this series will not only be awesome but will make an excellent companion to the game. Also, I don’t know about you guys but I’m still mighty curious what kind of “sick things” Anne had to do to get Murphy transferred to her prison…

Tom Waltz was also kind enough to share some of the different covers which are seen in the gallery below:

The cover featuring Anne’s head cover is by Tristan Jones. The Bogie Man cover is by Justin Randall, who also did variant covers for the Silent Hill: Past Life series. The Anne in the woods with gun cover is by Ilya Kuvshinov. And the full cast cover is by Jose Holder (with colors by Jeremy Colwell).

Silent Hill Past Life #3 Review

Posted By: Whitney   January 27th, 2011 | 1:59 pm

Hi guys sorry this is so late…but here’s my review of Silent Hill Past Life #3!

Silent Hill fans if you haven’t picked up the Past Life comic series, what are you waiting for!? Issue #3 is out and continues the Foster’s fun filled adventures in Silent Hill.

In this issue things the creep factor has jumped up a notch and we are treated to the real horrors from Jebediah’s, “Hell Rider” past. I don’t want to spoil anything for you guys, but let’s just say he worked hard to earn that outlaw name! It really makes me wonder how such a nasty man was able to win over such a nice woman like Esther.

Along with Jebediah’s past we also make some startling realizations about many of the Silent Hill townsfolk we’ve met so far, including an interesting tidbit on our Post Master friend Howard Blackwood! Turns out he may have be lured to the town due to some dark deeds of his own and has me wondering if his current situation is related to a punishment or self realization of his own. I’m definitely eager to see how his story continues in Silent Hill Downpour if this Howard Blackwood is the same postman we saw in the the E3 2010 trailer.

Like the past two issues Menton3’s continues to wow especially the page compositions depicting wet work from Jebediah’s violent past. These scenes are quick but it captures Jebediah’s just how cruel a man Jebediah really was. I think however my favorite piece of art from this issue included small cameos of Past Life writer, Tom Waltz, the artist himself, Menton3 and even Silent Hill: Downpour Producers Devin Shatsky and Tomm Hulett!

Past Life continues to be a phenomenal read and you will be left on the edge of your seat for the series conclusion in issue #4!

Silent Hill Past Life #2 Review

Posted By: Whitney   November 6th, 2010 | 5:38 pm

This is a repost of my review over on Hell Descent! A big thanks goes out to Tom Waltz for sending me the preview 🙂

Silent Hill Past Life #2 is the second installment of Tom Waltz’s four part Silent Hill comic picks up shortly after the end of issue #1.

Jebediah “Hell Rider” Foster is still reeling from an encounter with the old and crazy Native American who trespassed into the Foster’s home just the night before. Her gift of a bloody knife and casual mention of Jebediah’s Hell Rider past has the outlaw questioning whether or not he can really be a good man for his wife, Esther, and unborn child. I’m sure the powers of the town will help him with those fears! Hit the jump for the full review of Silent Hill: Past Life #2
