(Sorry about the sound quality guys! I didn’t have a microphone for my camera as I didn’t expect to do any sort of interview while attending Comic Con!)
I had the opportunity to chat with Toymunkey Studios President, Scott Sohn, about the company’s upcoming high end Silent Hill 2 Statues releasing later this year. For more pictures of the unpainted statues be sure to check out my news post!
Officially announced during the Silent Hill Revelation Panel at Comic Con 2012 a Silent Hill maze will be featured in Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort!
Halloween Horror Nights is a month long event held every year at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Orlando. The seasonal event will feature a series of themed creepy haunted mazes and are wildly popular. Past themes had included horror movies like Scream, The Thing, Saw, Friday The 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare On Elm Street, House of 1,000 Corpses and Hostel.
The Silent Hill attraction this year is the first time Universal has chosen a video game as the source and will be used to promote both the October releases of the upcoming Vita game, Silent Hill: Book Of Memories, as well as the movie Silent Hill: Revelation 3D.
You can watch the announcement video below!
I know what I’m going to do this October! Will any of you guys be checking this out?
A lot of great news regarding Silent Hill Revelation was revealed at Comic Con this year. Unfortunately their still isn’t a trailer (expect one in the coming weeks) but we did get a peek of actual movie footage at the panel, new info and a movie still!
The Panel
I lined up five hours early on Saturday to get into the panel but just missed being able to make it inside before the room fill capacity for the first panel of the day. Silent Hill was the second panel of the day but since no one had left the room after the first panel me and many others were let standing outside when it began. 🙁
Luckily those who were able to make it in, like JoBlo.com were sure to give a nice run down of what went down inside.
· Two clips from the film were shown. One clip that made it online shows Vincent strapped onto a hospital gurney surrounded by several creepy nurses. As Heather tries to help him escape the nurses attack:
The second clip featured a creature that that was not done practically on set. In the clip Heather frees her friend who’s encased in some kind of web or tape and a spider-like creature made up of mannequin parts comes after them. This cgi monster’s reveal is exclusive to con goers and as of today still hasn’t surfaced online. It has been said however that this new creature was inspired by the games and I’ve been told by those who attended the panel that it looks similar to Scarlet but on steroids.
· Revelation is a sequel to the first movie and and adaptation of the third game, but will also work as a standalone film. For fans of the series there will be many easter eggs to look out for.
· The movie is a hard R and the clips we shown were the only PG-13 parts of the movie. “I didn’t want to scare the Hobbit fans out there.”
· The character Sharon from the first films has been turned into Heather in this film which will be explained.
· The film was completely shot in 3D. Michael J Bassett was not fond of this format initially but soon came around saying that if there ever was a universe to immerse yourself in, it’s this one.
· Actress Adelaide Clemens screamed before every scene in preparation for Silent Hill Revelation
· A fan asked if Sean Bean’s character will die like he does in almost all of his roles. Bassett answers with “Yes and no. You have to see the movie to understand. You’ll have something to add to the [Sean Bean Death Montage] YouTube video, but not in the way you expect.”
After the panel Michael J Bassett and Adelaide Clemens signed autographs for some lucky fans. I wish I could have met them but at least I was able to pick up one of those Revelation posters they were signing later at the IDW booth in the dealer’s room!
And finally a new still from the movie was released showing Heather on what seems to be a burning Lakeside Amusement Park carousel.
I got to say after this weekend I’m super pumped for the movie! I hope more movie stills, clips, official movie poster and trailer will be revealed soon!

Hi Guys! I’m actually writing this while at San Diego Comic Con! I didn’t think I would have anything Silent Hill related to report until the Revelation panel on Saturday but I got quite a surprise on the dealer’s room floor this morning. It looks like not only do we have a new movie and a new game to look forward to later this year but also some sweet collector items!
Toymunkey Studios is licensing some gorgeous Silent Hill statues and has made their official launch here at the covention! At their booth they are showcasing two of their unpainted upcoming releases: a Bubblehead Nurse by Shin Tanabe and Red Pyramid Thing by Shinya Akao/HEADLONG.
I have to say the Pyramid Head holding up the Lying Figure is one of the coolest Silent Hill related statues I’ve ever seen. The little details are really incredible I especially love the rough textures on his helmet and apron. I can’t wait to see the completed painted version! I also really liked how the nurse bases connect so you can build up your own scary horde.
According to Scott Sohn, “Top Munkey” at Toymunkey Studios, these figures should be for sale around December this year with an estimated price tag of $150! I was expecting to hear that they would sale them for over $250…like the HEADLONG sculpted official Valtiel and Pyramid Head statues they sold last year in Japan through Konami Style.
I don’t have much information at this time but I have a video interview at the Toymunkey booth planned for this Sunday… so expect some more info and video footage when I get home from San Diego! Until then here’s the company’s statement about these statues from their website. Don’t forget to give their facebook page a like and follow them on twitter:
Toymunkey Studios in collaboration with Gecco is proud to announce a new line of PVC Statues based on the popular Konami video game series and hit movie Franchise Silent Hill. This debut release promises to capture all the horror and suspense of the original series.
Toymunkey Studios is excited to introduce collectors to a new world of toys and collectibles!
Please visit us in San Diego Comic-Con International at booth #4612 and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for a series of license announcements and updates in the coming days.
Michael J. Bassett updated his blog today with more information on the Comic Con Panel this Saturday. No trailer will be shown but we will get to see two clips from the movie including a new monster and con goers can pick up a SH poster souvenir for attending the panel! Bassett will also be doing autographs later in the day I’m super excited!
…Then Saturday is all about Silent Hill 2. Interviews and press from first thing until the end of the day. The big event is a presentation in Hall H at 12:45. We’ve only got half an hour so it’s not exactly going to be in depth. But I’m going to show 2 clips from the movie in 3D. Sadly no trailer yet…they want to premiere that online in a few weeks. Of the clips, one is a sequence with a new monster and the other sees the return of some old favourites. The difficulty really is that the Hall H crowd is a family audience and there’s not a lot from Silent Hill that’s really fun that little kids who are waiting for the Hobbit, can watch. Adelaide Clemens is going to be there and Kit Harington was coming but he’s broken his ankle so isn’t going to be making the journey now. Damn shame for me and the Game of Thrones audience, who I’m sure would love to have seen their ‘John Snow’. The Silent Hill distributors (Open Road Films) have made up a souvenir Comic-Con International only poster for the event which we’ll be giving away – it’s a very cool and striking image. And I’ll be hanging around in the afternoon to sign stuff before heading out to do some more interviews and things.
I can’t wait! I’m so happy SHR will be making an appearance at Comic Con 🙂

Well this is exciting! Michael J Bassett updated his blog to say that yes he and Silent Hill Revelation are making appearances at this years San Diego Comic Con! I’m super excited and I am attending the con so I’ll be sure to report on what I see there!
Coming up fast though, is San Diego Comic Con and I’m delighted to say that I will going this year. There’s going to be a Silent Hill presentation (details to be kept under wraps until the distributors say otherwise) but I’m sure that lucky (and patient) fans will be getting eyes on some scenes and I’ll be doing a Q&A with the cast if all goes well.
