At Silent Hill: Revelation 3D LA Premiere

Hello! My name is Whitney and I’m the owner, writer, coder and designer for the Silent Hill Historical Society!

When I’m not searching foggy towns for missing daughters I reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and work as a graphic designer for a computer technology company in San Jose. Some of my hobbies include playing video games, singing bad karaoke, reading American and Japanese comics and watching movies in my spare time. Video games have been a pretty big part of my childhood and current entertainment. I believe my earliest gaming experience was as a four year old guiding a boxing mama kangaroo to save her baby on my older siblings’ Atari.

Since then I’ve enjoyed watching and playing games on my older brother’s various future consoles including NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Nintendo 64 and Playstation but I didn’t really get into seriously playing or owning my own games until 1997. I was a huge Final Fantasy VII, Parasite Eve and Resident Evil/Biohazard fan and wanted to have a console of my own without worrying whether or not my brother would eventually sell the system or games for the next new game or console. Christmas 1998 I received a Playstation of my own and took a more active part in gaming accumulating my own gaming consoles and video games on the Playstation, Playstation 2, Game Cube, Playstation Portable and Xbox 360. Through the years I developed love for survival horror and RPGs with Silent Hill, Resident Evil/Biohazard and Final Fantasy as my favorites for their intricate plot lines and interesting characters.

Silent Hill caught my attention when I saw a gruesome screen shot of Harry standing over a dead dog in a bloodied alley featured in some sort of upcoming games article in one of my brother’s random game magazines. At the time I was a full fledged Resident Evil fan and since the article described Silent Hill as a “Resident Evil clone” it was a guarantee I would at least give the game a try. After my first play through of Silent Hill shortly after it’s release it was obvious that this game wasn’t a mere Resident Evil clone…it was better! I was so enthralled by the creepy atmosphere, music, and plot the from then on Silent Hill has been one of my most treasured and favored game series.

Was a Semi-Finalist in Konami’s Ultimate Fan Contest (2011)

Leading up to E3 2011 Konami asked fans of their various franchises (Castlevania, Metal Gear, Frogger, Dance Dance Revolution, Silent Hill, etc) to prove their love for their various franchises. In one contest fans were asked to write up a small paragraph why they liked their favorite series for a chance to win a console bundle of their choice and be named the “Ultimate [insert franchise] Fan. Additionally they held an “Ultimate Fan Contest” in which fans had to show in a photo just how big of a fan they really were. Winner of that contest won an all expensive paid VIP trip to E3 2011. I entered both contests and was picked as one of the six semi-finalists for the Ultimate fan! I didn’t win, that prize went to DDR superfan Eddie, but it was a thrill to make it to the top six!
