Pictures of the Final Version of Gecco’s Heather Statue

Posted By: Whitney   January 24th, 2014 | 12:05 pm

Here’s what the final Heather Statue looks like! I have to say it is an improvement from the production sample photos we saw in November but it’s still not as gorgeous as the paint job in the original sample. Though difference is quality between the final product and samples are to be expected. Overall I’m still pleased with the statue though and can’t wait to own her and see the paint job in person.

Gecco & Toymunkey Partnership is Still Terminated

After months of silence Toymunkey Studios, the former US distributor of Gecco’s Silent Hill themed merchandise, updated their facebook page Thursday afternoon assuring fans open and new orders will be fulfilled or refunded from this point forward:

toymunkey

Additionally, a slew of images of Gecco’s upcoming Heather statue were uploaded but as of Friday afternoon all have been removed from the page. This new activity certainly got fans talking and hopes rose with in the community that maybe Toymunkey and Gecco had worked things out since the termination of their partnership last October.

I sent an email to Gecco asking whether their partnership with Toymunkey was renewed and find out a possible a window fans outside of Japan could expect to see their new merchandise for sale domestically. What I learned however was that Toymunkey’s termination from last October still stands:

SHHS: “Is Toymunkey working with you again to distribute the Heather and Robbie statues and the Gecco products in the US and other countries?”

Gecco:”No, we’ll never ever work with Toymunkey [again]. We are preparing [to sell] our products in the US and other countries with a new partner.”

So as of right now there’s no named distributor for Gecco’s products outside of Japan but Gecco is in the process of forming a new partnership. If you are looking to order the new Heather and Robbie statues you will have to import them from Japan as Toymunkey will not be distributing them.

I’m really confused by Toymunkey’s actions…Was there maybe some sort of miscommunication? I’m not sure what all this means in regards to their promise to fulfill or refund outstanding orders but I will keep you all updated when and if I hear anything more.

Gecco Heather and Robbie Box Artwork Revealed!

Posted By: Whitney   December 10th, 2013 | 12:17 pm

Over on the Mameyorai Blog the box artwork for the upcoming Gecco Heather and Robbie statues have been revealed! I really like the designs.

Gecco Heather Packaging

For the Heather box it looks like the Halo of the Sun will form the front window which is very reminiscent of the save screen in Silent Hill 3 the box. On the inside display the there is a bloody Seal of Metatron as seen in Brookhaven Hospital in Silent Hill 3. The back features promotional artwork of Heather in a wheelchair made by Masahiro Ito that has been used in ads for the game in the past and on the side we even get a recreation of one of Stanely’s love notes from Brookhaven Hospital introducing the staff behind the creation of the statue.

Gecco Robbie Packaging

There are three types of Robbie statues being released so there will also be three variations their packaging as well. All the boxes are set up like they are real souvenirs you might find in Sweet Factory Store in the Park! The front of the box features the sign from Lakeside Amusement Park with lights and curtains surrounding the large window. The back shows promotional artwork by Robbie the Rabbit designer, Usagi Tanaka, showing several bloody Robbie mascots in a bathtub.

The Bloodless Souvenir Version of the Robbie Statue, available only through mail over and limited to 300 pieces has packaging that is clean, bright and untouched by the Other World. The Silent Hill 3 and Robbie the Rabbit text is also white on the back artwork.

The normal bloody Pink edition of Robbie the Rabbit has both blood spattering and darkness tinging the outside of the box. The Silent Hill 3 and Robbie the Rabbit text is red on the back artwork.

The Blue version of Robbie the Rabbit only available through the Mamegyorai Store features a heavily rustier and bloody version of the box with a Blue Robbie Head on the front. On the back there’s a Blue Robbie among the mascot group and the Silent Hill 3 and Robbie the Rabbit text is red.

robbie_header

Hobby Search posted photos and their thoughts on a production sample of the Robbie the Rabbit Statue due out in Japan February 2014.

Looking at the photos Robbie looks a lot closer to what I saw at Comic Con than the Heather statue production photos I shared in November.

He’s looking really good and if you are looking to pre-order a Robbie still he’s still available at Hobby Search on sale for approximately $108!

Gecco Heather Statue November Production Sample Photos

Posted By: Whitney   November 26th, 2013 | 1:01 pm

20131123_124485

Over on the Mamegyorai blog some photos of the sample production runs of Heather have been posted on Nov 1 and Nov 23.

Production Samples posted November 1

Production Samples posted November 23

Hmm from these photos I’m a little disappointed with the paint job on this statue. The promo figure they showed at Comic Con had a lot of little details that I see are missing (like the orange tops to the boots). Also her hair is way darker now especially in the Nov 23rd photos 🙁 I don’t know maybe it will look better in person? These photos may not be doing the paint job justice…

What do you guys think?

Confirmed: Toymunkey and Gecco Corp’s Partnership Terminated and the future of the Silent Hill Line

Posted By: Whitney   November 19th, 2013 | 10:47 am

gecco

Last weekend Silent Hill Paradise broke the news that Gecco Corp has terminated their partnership with Toymunkey Studios as of October 31st meaning distribution of their statues outside of Japan was left up in the air.

This news was really distressing and I was hesitant to officially report on this split until I was able to recieve confirmation from either company. Unfortunately I received confirmation of the split directly Gecco Corp’s President, Kineo Murakmai:

“…we have some sad news that we terminated partnership with Toymunkey on October 31st. Therefore, the release of “Heather” and “Robbie” in US will be much delayed although we’ve already started to talk to a new distributor. It will take time, but we promise that we’ll bring the statues to you, so please look forward to it.”

Their official statement for the reasoning behind the split:

Subject: Important announcement from Gecco Corp.

Dear Silent Hill fans,

Thank you very much for your patronage.

We, Gecco Corp., terminated the distributorship agreement with Toymunkey Studios, Inc. in the end of October.

Although we had requested Toymunkey to improve business operations for a while, they still don’t seem to respond in a sincere manner and cause our Silent Hill fans so much trouble.

Even though we broke up the partnership with them, we’ll keep requesting Toymunkey to improve the operations.

In Japanese market, we plan to release “Heather” in the end of this year and “Robbie” in February 2014. As for the other area than Japan, we are negotiating with several distributors, and the release will be later than Japanese portion. However, we promise that we’ll bring those statues to you. We really appreciate your patience and continued
support.

I’m pretty sad that Toymunkey and Gecco’s partnership has ended so suddenly but given how upset many fans have been lately over their lack of communication regarding Comic Con Statue and shirt pre-orders it’s not surprising.

I’ve reached out to Toymunkey for a comment but still haven’t heard back from the company. I’m not sure if those with open orders through them can still expect shipment of their purchases or just a refund.

On the bright side Gecco Corp is in talks with another distributor so we can still expect the chance order the upcoming Heather and Robbie statues domestically. This is a big relief especially since many Japanese import shops sold out of pre-orders for Heather weeks ago.

The Silent Nerd shared last week on the Silent Hill Collector group that he received an email from Big Bad Toy Store stating that any statues pre-ordered from them will be honored!

In some other sad news it looks like the “Souvenir Robbie” will not be made available outside of Japan and after the release of Heather and Robbie no new Silent Hill statues have been planned, though we can expect more shirts and iPhone cases:

“As for “Souvenir Version” of Robbie you’re asking, we regret to say that we don’t have a plan to release it outside of Japan.

After releasing Heather & Robbie, we don’t have plan for another new statues for a while, but we’ll release new T-shirts or iPhone cases.”

Robbie the Rabbit Statue Releases Feb 2014 in Japan with Two Special Editions!

Posted By: Whitney   September 24th, 2013 | 12:07 pm

robbieheader

The Robbie Statues will be release in Japan February 2014 for 12,800 yen. If you pre-order Robbie from AmiAmi you will also receive an exclusive bonus of Silent Hill Green Tea! How cute!

Now there are two addition Special editions of this statue. The first is the ‘Blue Robbie’ offered exclusively at Mamegyorai (Limited to 1,000 pieces). The second, a bloodless ‘Souvenir Version’ (Limited to 300 pieces), that comes in a special Lakeside Amusement Park Packaging and available through mail order from the October issue of Figure King magazine.

I really would really love to own them all! I’ve sent an email to Toymunkey to see if the ‘Blue’ and the ‘Souvenir Version’ might be released here domestically and if we can expect a similar tea bonus from certain shops. I really hope so, importing from Japan is so very expensive!
