The first trailer for FoG Films live action feature film adapting Silent Hill & Silent Hill 3 video games, FROM THE LOST DAYS, has arrived! Fans may remember FoG Film’s first foray in the Silent Hill fan film territory with their adaption of Silent Hill 2, Broken Notes, back in 2008. Like Broken Notes, From the Lost Days will be shot in Spanish but will be subtitled in English!

I interviewed the director Alex Slevin about this film during their first Kickstarter campaign back in 2014 and I’m so excited that it is finally coming together. 🙂

You can check out the trailer for Vol. 1 that covers the events of the first Silent Hill game below, and if you haven’t already be sure to follow the production of the movie on the Official Lost Days Facebook!

Last year Alex Slevin of FoG Films tried to crowdfund his fan film, From the Lost Days – Silent Hill 15th Anniversary Film, a live action feature film that adapted both the Silent Hill & Silent Hill 3 video games through Kickstarter. Unfortunately the project wasn’t funded back then but thankfully the team is trying again on Indieogogo!

Fans may remember FoG Film’s first foray in the Silent Hill fan film territory with their adaption of Silent Hill 2, Broken Notes, back in 2008. Like Broken Notes, From the Lost Days will be shot in Spanish but will be subtitled in English with more language subtitles options hopefully in the future.

concept

The campaign has 20 days left to reach their goal of €2,500 EUR. If the project reaches its crowdfunding goal filming will begin next month in various locations in the Alicante province of Spain, with a tentative release sometime in the first quarter of 2016.

From interview with Alex last year and seeing the cast, location photos and pre production artwork on the Facebook and Indiegogo page I am really excited to see Lost Days happen! The first game is my favorite in the series so it will be a real treat to see a more faithful film adaptation.

Full Press Release

Fog · Films a spanish film production association, which spent seven years doing independent productions, is finalizing the details on preproduction

for his next film “FROM THE LOST DAYS,” a new adaptation of the cult Silent Hill video game series.

The first attempt to adapt the Silent Hill series came with “BROKEN NOTES” which was done with a very low budget but nevertheless It had a significant impact on the internet thanks to fans of the popular franchise created by Konami in 1999. This group of filmmakers has decided to launch a more solid and ambitious project for which they seek funds and other support through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

The aim is to create a faithfully adaptation of the Sillent Hill plot and characters trying to move away from the typical clichés and commercial film conventions in this type of productions.

“FROM THE LOST DAYS” is an adaptation of the first and third Silent Hill games. It has the enigmatic plot, the strange places and the even stranger characters taken from the games, but arranged to create a coherent single feature film.

If the project reaches the crowdfunding goal it will be filmed in various locations in the province of Alicante in Spain during August 2015.

The objective is to deliver the film in the first quarter of 2016.

The Fog·Films association appreciates any support or broadcasting shows that could help us to move forward with this non-profit project.

prelude

The folks behind Silent Hill Prelude has finally started their Indiegogo campaign!

What is Prelude?

Prelude is fan short film (aprox. 60 min) based strongly around the Silent Hill universe. This film’s purpose is to help provide background and context to the events, characters, and articles found within the first Silent Hill game. There was so much untold, and so much left unanswered within the notes found in Silent Hill 1 that Prelude will fill in the missing story pieces and provide more background to the events and characters leading up to the game. Prelude’s goal is to enrich your Silent Hill experience whether you are a seasoned fan or new to the genre.

This project has been in development for over 2 years and is now finally starting to gain the momentum to become a reality. Over the many years Silent Hill has given us a beautiful story to lose ourselves in and has held a very special place in our hearts. Hollywood has attempted to adapt many video games into major motion pictures, and although few have been successful many tend to stray from the original source material and as a result have fallen short. We feel that we owe it to not only ourselves, but the fans of Silent Hill a story that is original, but true to the games, and that is our story of Prelude.

You can view their test scene below:

The team is looking to raise $52,325 the break down is as follows:

Even if they don’t hit their goal they are still going to try and get the film made!

I’m really excited about this project! The test footage looked excellent, I hope to get the crew on my podcast soon to talk more about their project! 🙂

A Silent Hill Story: Lost Days is OUT!

The short film based on Silent Hill 2 by Brett Driver and crowdfunded through indiegogo has been released!

I just finished watching it a moment ago and I’m still trying to pick my chin off the ground.

Seriously, wow just… WOW!

Starlin Britt and Lizzy Vincent really nailed James and Mary’s characters. I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s heart wrenching watching their relationship crumble after Mary’s diagnosis due to Mary’s self loathing and James own helplessness in the situation. Since this film is a prequel to the game I really loved the nods to future moments in James’ journey with the appearances of Maria, Pyramid Head, and a heartbreaking scene that mirrors a certain monologue in a long hallway at Lakeview Hotel.

The set, costumes, lighting and original music came together so perfectly. It was also a real treat to see Steven Yount, of Creative Guy Costuming’s Pyramid Head cosplay in action! This really is one of the best Silent Hill fan films I’ve seen to date. I really wish Brett Driver would tackle and full length Silent Hill 2 film adaptation in the future. I think he would do a wonderful job.

If you haven’t already, check out my Voices in the Static interview with both Brett Driver and Starlin Britt about the making of this film.
