Donate to Silent Hill Prelude!
Posted By: Whitney December 27th, 2014 | 10:12 pmThe folks behind Silent Hill Prelude has finally started their Indiegogo campaign!
Prelude is fan short film (aprox. 60 min) based strongly around the Silent Hill universe. This film’s purpose is to help provide background and context to the events, characters, and articles found within the first Silent Hill game. There was so much untold, and so much left unanswered within the notes found in Silent Hill 1 that Prelude will fill in the missing story pieces and provide more background to the events and characters leading up to the game. Prelude’s goal is to enrich your Silent Hill experience whether you are a seasoned fan or new to the genre.
This project has been in development for over 2 years and is now finally starting to gain the momentum to become a reality. Over the many years Silent Hill has given us a beautiful story to lose ourselves in and has held a very special place in our hearts. Hollywood has attempted to adapt many video games into major motion pictures, and although few have been successful many tend to stray from the original source material and as a result have fallen short. We feel that we owe it to not only ourselves, but the fans of Silent Hill a story that is original, but true to the games, and that is our story of Prelude.
You can view their test scene below:
The team is looking to raise $52,325 the break down is as follows:
Even if they don’t hit their goal they are still going to try and get the film made!
I’m really excited about this project! The test footage looked excellent, I hope to get the crew on my podcast soon to talk more about their project! 🙂

Honestly, this project looks boring and doomed to fail. I’m pretty sure no one will care about some dumb fantasy created background that will not entirely be canon at all. This and SH Requiem are just a bunch of crap of unoriginal people that can’t think of something new but reuse old characters that, as much as we love to see again in future games, will not provide enough, real background information, and a senseless plot that will just make new fans to the series even more confused and seasoned fans distraught with your personal views of the SH saga. So yeah, stick those crappy projects up your ass, bye.
“Stick those crappy projects up your ass.” O_o Honestly I’m quite surprised at your hostility over a few fan projects. If you don’t want to support Prelude, Requiem or some other fan film that’s fine. No one is making you and you certainly don’t have to watch the films when they are complete.
Personally I think it is fun to see other fans takes on the series. Is it canon? Hell no but I think it is fun to see another’s take on the series I love. It takes a lot of guts to make a fan film especially given the reactionary and negative nature of the SH fandom so I will continue to lend my support to fellow fans by spreading the word about their fan projects through this site.
I like to believe that line of God from Futurama, “when you do things right, people won’t be sure you did anything at all.”
That was the stance I presumed to take, that is a curious and appreciative nod to the “Prelude” trailer. Yet after that really negative post by NotInAMillionYears, I have to disagree and retort against it.
Why are there fan videos and fan fiction created by SH fans? Because we love the world and lore behind it but that’s not all. These guys and girls are going out to actually make a film based on said SH world.
How cool is that? Why spew that verbal garbage when you have nothing of your inspiration and creativity to show for it? You’re a over-glorified SH (or not) fan who has nothing good or constructive to say. They are making the exact opposite of what you are saying:
A plot that will tell of “fan fiction” interpretations on the events between Lisa Garland, Cybil Bennet, Dr. Kaufman (and others) into the beginnings of Silent Hill (1). Silent Hill 0rigins did a decent prequel attempt and that was from the gaming side, so let’s support this “Prelude”?
With Silent Hills on the horizon, more SH fan work is always welcoming to us SH fans. SH, like any other game franchise is nothing without its fans. These “personal views” is what fleshes out all more of the SH inspired world (games, fan art, fan fiction, fan films, music) that we know and love. Take a back seat and appreciate or go find another place to spread your misery, maybe in your own Silent Hill. 🙂
