Konami has released some new great high res Silent Hill: Downpour poster concept art featuring Murphy Pendleton and Officer Cunningham. Surprising enough the Cunningham picture is named “poster_anne_fin” so I guess it’s safe to assume her first name is Anne?

Silent Hill: Downpour on the PC? It’s up to Konami…

Posted By: Whitney   April 6th, 2011 | 12:16 pm

Brian Goman, Design Director of Silent Hill: Downpour explained to a fan that a PC port of the game is up to Konami.

Re: #SilentHill for PC – We develop on PC for Unreal SDK, so a PC version is relatively easy. But it’s not up to the developer.

RE: #SilentHill PC – It’s about the cost of testing for the multitude of PC configs, and distribution of a PC box retail version.
PC #SilentHill – So basically, it’s a cost benefit decision that comes down to the publisher. PC Silent Hill is Konami’s call.

So PC users be sure to let Konami know that you are eager for a PC port of the game!

Devin Shatsky – There’s No Silent Hill Multiplayer in the Works

Posted By: Whitney   March 21st, 2011 | 10:35 am

Devin Shatsky, producer of Silent Hill: Downpour, visited the Hell Descent Forums to let fans know that the rumor of a multiplayer Silent Hill are completely false. A multiplayer element was considered in the early development of Silent Hill: Downpour but was dropped when the team determined how much time, money and effort it would takeaway from the core single player experience.

Shatsky believes that either interviewer misinterpreted Radek Marek’s (Silent Hill Downpour Art Director’s) answer, or the meaning was lost in translation.

Whoever that Italian interviewer was either took Radek’s comments completely out of context, or it was lost in translation. As previously mentioned, we were (many moons ago) investigating a separate Multiplayer mode, but that was quickly extinguished when we costed it out and determined how much resource time it would detract from the core singleplayer experience.

(Rumor) Multiplayer in the Works for Silent Hill?

Posted By: Whitney   March 18th, 2011 | 3:46 pm

In an interview with XBOX 360 Magazine in Italy, Radek Marek Art Director on Silent Hill: Downpour said Konami is considering multiplayer Silent Hill title for XBLA. There are no plans to add a multiplayer in Silent Hill: Downpour but there are talks to make a separate chapter and characters for this endeavor.

SilentHiller over on the Hell Descent forums was kind enough to translate most of this Italian interview the multiplayer related question is as follows:

360M: Can we expect a multiplayer mode in Silent Hill?

Marek: At the moment there will be no multiplayer modes in Silent Hill: Downpour, but Konami are investigating a separate chapter devoted entirely to the Multiplayer. We do not know the details but it should be an XBLA title that most players have to survive in the town of Silent Hill.

I’m not sure how well multiplayer would fit in with the other Silent Hill titles since isolation has always played a key role in the overall atmosphere in the previous games. In the end I guess it really comes down to how it’s implemented. It might be that characters are trying to meet up with one another and must traverse the big town alone to meet in a certain place or time. It could be more like a versus mode were several people take on the role of the creatures trying to hunt down the human player. It may be different then what we are used to but I know I’m interested to see how Konami pulls it off. I think I would have a lot of fun exploring Silent Hill with a friend. What about you guys?
