Halloween Horror Nights Silent Hill Maze Preview!

Posted By: Whitney   September 11th, 2012 | 10:24 am

Shocktillyoudrop.com got a special preview of the upcoming Silent Hill maze and it looks like there’s a lot of stuff for the fans of the series to look forward to (Spoilers if you don’t want to know what creatures to expect within the maze):

· The maze will combine elements from both the existing video games and the films, including the upcoming Silent Hill: Revelations 3D.
· Game developer Konami has been involved in the maze’s creation on an advisory level.
· (Spoiler) Red Pyramid, the Missionary, Bogeyman, Dark Alessa, the Nurses, Colin the Janitor and Robbie the Rabbit (end spoiler) all make an appearance in the maze.
· The soundtrack takes its cue from the games and because there is so much music to draw from, the soundtrack experience may be different for each attendee depending on when they visit the attraction.
· Various scents will be pumped through the maze, including the smell of blue cotton candy.
· The maze relies heavily on fog (naturally) and sound effects, including the memorable air raid siren.
· Howard Blackwood, Silent Hill’s postmaster, will greet attendees in front of the maze. Be sure to follow @HorrorNights to learn how to score cool prizes from him during HHN’s hours of operation.

Check out their full preview gallery over on their report along with their short behind the scenes video with creative director John Murdy! (there’s spoilers)

I know I’m really excited about all the game elements that will be present in the maze. In their video Murdy discussed how important sound is in creating the immersion. Every time a creature comes into a room it’s preceded by radio static, just like in the game! I was also excited to see that along with the well known movie known creatures (The Janitor, Nurses and Pyramid Head) game characters such as Silent Hill 3’s Missionaries, Robbie and even Downpour’s Howard Blackwood make appearances. The maze’s use of sounds, fog and scents also seems very cool and will really draw fans into the world of Silent Hill. I can’t wait to see this first hand!

The Silent Hill maze is open select nights September 21-October 31 in both Universal Hollywood and Orlando. See the Halloween Horror Nights website for more information.

Silent Hill: Defeated a Fan Card Game

Posted By: Whitney   September 8th, 2012 | 10:55 am

Own a deck of Silent Hill Homecoming playing cards? Why don’t you give this card game by Don Riddle a try!

Silent Hill: Defeated is a free, unofficial, print-and-play card game designed for use with Silent Hill-themed playing cards (not included) to play a game more thematically linked to the popular survival-horror videogame. The card deck is a “poker” deck with 2 Jokers, but the splitting of the deck’s artwork between Monsters (Black suits) and Heroes (Red suits) led to the design of Silent Hill: Defeated. The game could conceivably be played with any “poker”-style deck, but the Silent Hill deck from Great Eastern Entertainment is highly recommended.

The gameplay is like Silent Hill meets Uno. You start the game by drawing 7 cards and your goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand. You do this by “challenging” the top card of the discard pile. Sometimes that card is a Monster and you will need a Hero to fight it. Sometimes, it’s the other way around. The Heroes (red-suited cards) and Monsters (black-suited cards) have different rules and play a little differently, but in the end you have to combine both strategies in order to empty your hand of cards, which allows you to finally escape the twisted place called… Silent Hill.

Check out the full rules here!

Silent Hill Revelation Finally Has an Official Website

Posted By: Whitney   September 8th, 2012 | 10:44 am

Looks like the marketing for Silent Hill Revelation is finally in full swing now with the reveal of the official one sheet and teaser website earlier this week.

They sure are driving home the point that this movie is in 3D…even the site has a pseudo 3D effect with Pyramid Head moving and popping out of the site’s design.

There’s not much up there right now besides a brief synopsis and the trailer but I hope a lot more things will be added in the upcoming weeks like more movie stills, downloads and news.

I’m a bit disappointed that Pyramid Head seems to be the main focus of Open Roads marketing instead of Heather or Claudia… but I guess in the end I’m not too surprised they’ve focused on him since he seems to be a big draw for many fans of the upcoming movie:

A Silent Hill Tribute Album in the Works!

Posted By: Whitney   August 6th, 2012 | 10:30 am

Well this is exciting! Some fans are teaming up to put together a Silent Hill Tribute Album and they need your help!

They are looking for fellow musicians and artists to contribute. I really liked what I heard of the samples of the music so far!

A Silent Hill Tribute Album! Made for the Fans, by the fans!

A tribute album of original songs by real artists, inspired by the ambiance, the feel,
the sounds and the music of Silent Hill.

We need musicians and/or artists to dedicate a new composition or artwork for the record!

Just compose a song, do some artwork channeling Silent Hill!

Send it to us and we do the rest!

We hope to stay in close contact to the growing number of contributors through the process, as well as take your suggestions and ideas towards the product.

To submit a song or official volunteer to the project please contact me and get my email address!

When we have enough tracks and track-art, we will compose an album and distribute to all the fans, perhaps even do a ‘pay what you want’ option and donate the proceeds to a charity, or give back to the artists themselves!

Just contact me @ my blog and we can talk some more!

You can click here to hear some current songs in the record (to get inspired)
