Scans of the Silent Hill 2006 Official Silent Hill Tourism Map Prop Added!

Shortly after the 2006 Silent Hill film was released Premiere Props auctioned off a load of “screen used” props from the movie. Included in their large sale were several “Official Silent Hill Tourism Maps” that featured a map of Silent Hill on one side and West Virginia map on the other listing fun activities to do in Silent Hill during the 70′s.

For years I wanted to take a peek at the interior of the brochure as the pictures Premiere Props provided were too small to really make out much the details. Luckily, I was able to obtain a map prop from a follow collector for my own collection last week and thought it would be cool to scan it and share the contents online!

You can check out the contents of the map and see some of my own impression over in the

It’s Happening! NEW SILENT HILL

its-happening-1

Okay I can’t post right now because I actually have work to do BUT I wanted to get something up!

P.T. on the PSN store was an interactive teaser for the new Silent Hill made by Kojima and Del Toro with Norman Reedus giving his voice and likeness to the main character!

Okay I have a few minutes! Here’s the exciting news.

So a P.T. playable demo on Playstation 4 was announced at Gamescom and it revealed at the end a teaser for A NEW SILENT HILL GAME from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro!

sh5

Apparently this little demo was just a ruse (I guess?) to announce that a Silent Hill game is in the works since the end of the teaser says that none of the gameplay represents the main title. All we know for now is that Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro are involved and that the main character is being voiced and modeled after The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus.

I seriously can’t wait…I guess I better get myself a PS4 sometime in the future!

There will be a call to action video online soon but I was asked to give you guys a heads up a little earlier! You guys have until May 2, 2014 to get those videos in! Once I have more information I will be updating this post.

IDW’s Silent Hill Downpour Comic all about Anne has a release date!

Well this is some wonderful news! It turns out we will see Anne’s journey through Silent Hill in comic form after all later this year.

During Wondercon 2014 IDW Publishing announced that their upcoming comic lineup includes the Anne prequel comic Tom Waltz teased way back in 2012. This new series will be called Silent Hill Downpour: Anne’s Story and is written by Tom Waltz with interior artwork by Tristan “T-Rex” Jones.

“IDW returns to Konami’s horror masterpiece! In the 2012 hit video game Silent Hill Downpour, players were introduced to Anne Marie Cunningham, the enigmatic prison officer bent on bloody revenge against the game’s main protagonist, Murphy Pendleton. Now, at last, fans can learn what horrors Anne faced during her fateful journey through Silent Hill’s fog-shrouded streets… and what led her to the terrifyingly cursed town in the first place. Written by Tom Waltz (writer of Silent Hill: Sinner’s Reward, Silent Hill: Past Life and the Silent Hill Downpour video game), with artwork by Tristan Jones (Ghostbusters, Hoax Hunters).”

The first issue has been given a tentative August 20, 2014 store release and will retail for $3.99. The comic will feature Anne’s side of the story and according to Tom Waltz:

“The entire story is based on a concept by Tomm Hulett, Devin Shatsky, and myself […] just after the release of the video game”

I am a big fan Waltz’s last Silent Hill comic series, Past Life, released back in 2010. Given that his last series was so good and Waltz also co-wrote the Silent Hill: Downpour, a video game that I also loved, it’s no surprise that right now I have very high hopes that this series will not only be awesome but will make an excellent companion to the game. Also, I don’t know about you guys but I’m still mighty curious what kind of “sick things” Anne had to do to get Murphy transferred to her prison…

Tom Waltz was also kind enough to share some of the different covers which are seen in the gallery below:

The cover featuring Anne’s head cover is by Tristan Jones. The Bogie Man cover is by Justin Randall, who also did variant covers for the Silent Hill: Past Life series. The Anne in the woods with gun cover is by Ilya Kuvshinov. And the full cast cover is by Jose Holder (with colors by Jeremy Colwell).

A Silent Hill Story: Lost Days is OUT!

Posted By: Whitney   April 7th, 2014 | 3:14 pm

lostdays

The short film based on Silent Hill 2 by Brett Driver and crowdfunded through indiegogo has been released!

I just finished watching it a moment ago and I’m still trying to pick my chin off the ground.

Seriously, wow just… WOW!

Starlin Britt and Lizzy Vincent really nailed James and Mary’s characters. I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s heart wrenching watching their relationship crumble after Mary’s diagnosis due to Mary’s self loathing and James own helplessness in the situation. Since this film is a prequel to the game I really loved the nods to future moments in James’ journey with the appearances of Maria, Pyramid Head, and a heartbreaking scene that mirrors a certain monologue in a long hallway at Lakeview Hotel.

The set, costumes, lighting and original music came together so perfectly. It was also a real treat to see Steven Yount, of Creative Guy Costuming’s Pyramid Head cosplay in action! This really is one of the best Silent Hill fan films I’ve seen to date. I really wish Brett Driver would tackle and full length Silent Hill 2 film adaptation in the future. I think he would do a wonderful job.

If you haven’t already, check out my Voices in the Static interview with both Brett Driver and Starlin Britt about the making of this film.

Silent Hill Fan Film Interviews – Alex Slevin Director of From the Lost Days

2014 is the year of the Silent Hill fan films and here on Silent Hill Historical Society I’m trying to get the scoop on each exciting new production! My first interview is with Alex Slevin of FoG films about his upcoming project, From the Lost Days – Silent Hill 15th Anniversary Film, a live action feature film adapting Silent Hill & Silent Hill 3 video games that’s currently on Kickstarter with a little more than 2 weeks left in its campaign. Fans may remember Alex’s first foray in the Silent Hill fan film territory with his adaption of Silent Hill 2, Broken Notes, back in 2008. Like Broken Notes, From the Lost Days will be shot in Spanish but will be subtitled in English with more language subtitles options hopefully in the future.
