Posted By: Whitney   November 1st, 2011 | 12:02 am

IGN posted some new screens for Silent Hill Book of Memories and in them we see familiar monsters from Silent Hill games past. In the screens I spot: Insane Cancer (SH3), Needlers (SHH), Nurse (SH2), Scisims… I think (SHH), Air Screamer (SH1), Double Heads (SH3), is that Valtiel? (SH3), The Butcher (SH0), Patient Demon? (SH2) AND Howard from Downpour I wonder what he’s doing in this game?

Silent Hill HD Collection: New Screens and Box Art Revealed!

Posted By: Whitney   August 28th, 2011 | 2:07 pm

A couple days ago some more Silent Hill: HD Collection screens were released including several from Silent Hill 3

I like that a lot of the clothes in Silent Hill 2 look more like fabric and less like it belongs on a vinyl figure of the character. It’s really apparent on James’ coat! I know that these are probably no better than the PC version of the game but as someone who does not play games on my PC I’m really excited to see this kind of clarity from a console playable version of Silent Hill 2. I can’t ever remember the Silent Hill Historical Society being that clear inside! Though now that I think about it it’s probably because there isn’t a grain filter on that screencap lol. Anyway maybe we will have better views of those cool paintings and artworks in the there and the prison instead of having to look at the texture files!

As for the 2 Silent Hill 3 shots well I can’t say I’m super impressed but I think it has more to do with the fact that one of them is clearly incomplete! I’m looking at you Heather in Happy Burger! Where’s the window to the outside world?! It’s not only missing the cool shadows and the light but the tops of potted plant and details from the remains of Heather’s meal are missing as well. I’m flabbergasted Konami would release such an incomplete scene as a screencap. Gagh! What an awful shot to pick :\

Yesterday Amazon.com posted what appears to be the box art for the Silent Hill HD Collection and it sure is pretty! The consensus around the fans seems to be that it may be the nicest Silent Hill box art to date…and I agree to a point.

I love the crying Maria (you know it’s her because she’s wearing Maria’s choker) but I can’t say I’m not keen on the layout of all the elements. The off center logo looks like it’s too close to the right side of the box and just seems swished. I’m not too fond of the inclusion of the two games covers on the front either. I think the cover would have been a lot more elegant without those bright covers and just focused on the crying Maria and placing the two game covers on on the back… But I see how it’s a necessary evil from a marketing standpoint to show the covers on the front since it screams that “Hey there’s two cool games in this collection!”

What do you guys think? It would definitely make a nice product poster that’s for sure!

New Silent Hill 2 HD Collection Screens from Gamescom

Posted By: Whitney   August 19th, 2011 | 2:39 pm

Konami has also released a whole slew of new screens of Silent Hill 2 from the HD collection! I’m still waiting for them to appear on their media download site but some other sites on the web have been lucky to get their hand on them early!

We see a lot of shots of Bubblehead nurses that have many going “WHERE THE FUCK ARE THOSE MOUTHS FROM?” lol. Those these are actually not something Konami has just added in for shits and giggles. If you take a look at the original game models extracted from the PC version of Silent Hill 2 you can clearly see the weird red mouths on the model. Not sure why it’s not existent in the PS2 version but it’s something that’s supposed to be there apparently? I don’t know. Can anyone with the PC version see these mouths?

Silent Hill: Book of Memories is a Top-Down Multiplayer Game, say whaaat?

Posted By: Whitney   August 17th, 2011 | 1:06 pm

We have a gained a bit more information and screens on the upcoming Book of Memories the Silent Hill Vita multiplayer game being developed by WayForward during the Konami Gamescom 2011 Press Conference!

The game will have a top-down or isometric perspective, which is typically seen in role playing games but that’s not to say this hasn’t been used in a horror genre before! This view was also used in, Sweet Home, a Capcom Japan-only survival horror RPG Nintendo back in 1989. Despite the RPG like view the game still give people chills and was even later given credit as an inspiration for Capcom’s blockbuster Resident Evil!

Back during E3 2011 we learned that Book of Memories would be it’s own story unrelated to past Silent Hill titles, this probably because the game will give you the option to create your own protagonist. The video during the press conference showed three custom characters with the names Harry, Maria and James 🙂

From the screens it looks like we can make characters look a bit like Travis from Silent Hill Origins (it’s the hat that made me think that), Murphy from Downpour (green jumpsuit) and on the other end of the spectrum some sort of gothic chick. Additionally these screens also give us a peek at some of the enemies, nurses make a comeback and is that a Needler from Homecoming I see? Oh yeah, Pyramid Head going be in this too…ugh…but hey at least he’s not in Downpour!

According to Joystiq, Book of Memories will feature melee combat, guns and “what appears to be a smattering of RPG elements.” I’ll let you know if I find out any new information!

New Screens from Downpour Come to the Surface

Posted By: Whitney   August 17th, 2011 | 10:39 am

With Gamescom starting we are treated to some new Downpour screens from Konami! We see Murphy traversing some new areas including a water logged prison (maybe Toluca? That would be awesome) and meeting Sazh Katzroy from Final Fantasy 13 hehe I kid. I don’t know his name just yet but it’s cool to see a new face! Though now that I think about it you guys think it’s the same person we saw flashed on the tv in the e3 2010 trailer?

Some New Downpour Screens from Konami

Posted By: Whitney   July 21st, 2011 | 3:56 pm

Konami has added some new Downpour screens to their download site. Some look amazing while others…er not so much. Not sure if some are really “finals” since some of the graphics are looking very jagged and low res. Is it just me? What do you guys think?

Silent Hill HD Collection Screens and Logo

Posted By: Whitney   July 21st, 2011 | 3:37 pm

Konami has released two screens and a logo for their upcoming HD collection. I was hoping for a little more but I’ll take what I can get!

I can definitely tell there’s more detail in James’ character model but the textures still look fuzzy to me (it could also be the grain filter) what do you guys think? I’m still curious to see what Silent Hill 3 will look like!

Publisher: Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

Full Game Description:

Murphy Pendleton has been incarcerated for several years, having had his sentence extended once already. Due to his history at Ryall State Prison, he is being transferred to nearby Wayside Maximum Security Penitentiary—but a freak accident cuts the journey short. Waking up in a forest next to the wrecked bus, Murphy has a clear shot at freedom. He makes his way into the sleepy town of Silent Hill where mysterious locals welcome him into a slowly developing personal hell.

Silent Hill Downpour is the latest Silent Hill game offering the familiar Survival Horror gameplay delivered in the most defined visual quality to date. The game also expands on the exploration theme of the franchise both design-wise and through psychological torture, ambient story, horrific enemies and self-evaluative questions of despair.

Key Features

  • All new and updated Silent Hill experience that visually stands on its own with the current competition. Utilizing Unreal 3 technology, the game brings the town of Silent Hill, its characters, the creatures and the alternate hell world into vivid and spectacular display.
  • Free-roaming and deep exploration that will take players into all-new ‘Side Quests’ unlocking areas within the game, special items and bonus content.
  • An ever-changing game world including day and night ‘Normal’ world and ‘Otherworld’ world, all manifested and sourced from character actions throughout the game.
  • First-time ever 3D technology will bring Silent Hill a step closer to the player with three-dimensional immersion.
  • Renowned story and music talent attached to the game including:
  • Silent Hill comic writer, Tom Waltz
  • Original music directed and composed by renowned composer, Dan Licht, of the Showtime series, Dexter.
  • Theme song performed by hard-rock multiplatinum group, Korn.

Theme song by Korn? Well that’s unexpected… I’m interested to hear what they come up with! But, I think the biggest news here however is that not only will the game have an October release (yay!) is that the game will be in 3D! (Hey, just like the movie…) Makes me wish I had a 3D television but even still it’s cool that Silent Hill will be one of the first games to attempt to use this new technology.
