With Silent Hill Revelation 3D and Book of Memories release over and done with this past October you may be going into a bit of Silent Hill with drawl! But don’t fear, even though the offerings from Konami and Michael J Bassett to the Silent Hill franchise are out we do have some cool Silent Hill related stuff to look forward to!

Coming this December is a demo of José “JAG_TxelUM” Guzmán’s a free-to-download fan-made game, Silent Hill Rebirth!

This game has been in the works since 2008 and was originally being made with the RPG Maker XP engine (You can see screens of the original on the game’s page) but this format was scrapped in 2010 and is now currently being developed with 3D graphics similar to the games we know and love.

What’s really great about this project is how it’s using the talents of fans from all over the globe. As of 2012 Rebirth has contributors from Australia, Bolivia, USA, Mexico, Brazil, France, Poland, Germany, Italy and The United Kingdom. This team of story/scenario writers, musicians, character/monster designers and programmers collectively are affectionately being called “Fan Team Silent”. 🙂

Game Synopsis (from game cover)

After losing his daughter [in] a car accident. Jacob Graves has gone into a severe self-destructive spiral losing almost everything he had in life. [He unexpectedly receives] a mysterious phone call that reveals the possible location of [the person responsible for his daughter’s death]. Apparently, [this] individual has been lurking for quite some time in a mysterious foggy town called Silent Hill, to which Jacob [immediately drives to] with no other wish than revenge.

The game’s plot sounds pretty interesting and I’m pretty impressed with the scope of this fan project! José Guzmán and his team is really going all out by not only offering a game but also a full soundtrack and eventually a plot analysis and original artwork compilation free for download. I know when the demo is released next month I will be giving it a whirl.
