Silent Hill: Downpour on the PC? It’s up to Konami…

Posted By: Whitney   April 6th, 2011 | 12:16 pm

Brian Goman, Design Director of Silent Hill: Downpour explained to a fan that a PC port of the game is up to Konami.

Re: #SilentHill for PC – We develop on PC for Unreal SDK, so a PC version is relatively easy. But it’s not up to the developer.

RE: #SilentHill PC – It’s about the cost of testing for the multitude of PC configs, and distribution of a PC box retail version.
PC #SilentHill – So basically, it’s a cost benefit decision that comes down to the publisher. PC Silent Hill is Konami’s call.

So PC users be sure to let Konami know that you are eager for a PC port of the game!

Lakeside Amusement Park in Silent Hill: Revelation…can I hear a HELL YEAH?!

Posted By: Whitney   April 4th, 2011 | 11:35 pm

Shooting begins tomorrow at Homeniuk Rides Incorporated Presents Superfun in Ontario, Canada for what I assume is a Lakeside Amusement park scene!

Homeniuk Rides Incorporated Presents Superfun said:

Ride set up for the movie shoot of “Silent Hill Revelation 3D” is tomorrow. If you see the movie when it comes out in theaters tell us what rides/games/support equipment you see….

So far there’s a gallery of a ride called “Ring of Fire” on their facebook. I’m not sure if it’s in anyway related to the shoot but I hopefully more info will be available from fans on set or Michael Bassett himself in the next couple days!

I’m still working on the Silent Hill 2006 Movie section and I’m just about halfway done. I’m hoping to open this section within the week! Here’s my progress so far:

  • Movie Information (98%)
  • Accolades
  • Release Information (70%)
  • Credits
  • Characters
  • Creatures
  • Locations (15%)
  • Movie Versus the Games (0%)
  • Ads and Posters (0%)
  • Movie Promotions

  • Websites (0%)
  • Movie Screenshots

I’ve also reorganized the news section a bit with new categories and tags which I hope will make the type of news you are looking for easier. In addition the newer sections: Shattered Memories and Downpour now have links to their game specific new posts. When I open a section for Revelation it will have a similar section.

There are also some new graphics around the site. I’ve made a header graphic for the The Information Desk area of the site and I’ve also replaced the clock image with an image of the SHHS building from Silent Hill 2 I edited on the main side menu!

(Rumor) Dame Maggie Smith in Silent Hill Revelation?

Posted By: Whitney   March 30th, 2011 | 12:09 am

According to a blurb in September 2010 issue EMPIRE magazine this Oscar winning actress was sent a script for Silent Hill: Revelation

“Is Dame Maggie Smith about to make a career first? The twice OSCAR winning British actress has reportedly announced she was sent a script for a “little horror film called “Silent Hill 2″”, the Harry Potter actress is quoted to have said. The actress, who won her first Academy Award in 1969 for “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” was said to have received the script last week and was overheard talking about it to a friend. If she chooses to accept the unknown role in the game adaptation sequel, this will mark the Dame’s first outing into the horror genre.”

Michael J. Bassett did mention a “Major Surprise Casting” announcement, do you think Smith could be it? If she is cast, who do you think she would play? Not Claudia…she way to old for the role hmm maybe another senior cult member? If Smith does end up joining the cast it would be pretty epic!

Akira Yamaoka’s Silent Hill Guitar Up for Auction

Posted By: Whitney   March 29th, 2011 | 6:06 pm

Want to own a piece of Silent Hill history? Now’s your chance! The Play For Japan campaign, a video game industry initiative to raise money for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan, has put Akira Yamaoka’s guitar for auction!

Silent Hill Fans! You’re bidding on an extremely special guitar. This Yamaha APX-15FM acoustic electric guitar was purchased by Akira Yamaoka, producer and composer of the Silent Hill series of games, shortly before he began work on the first Silent Hill game. Akira composed the first soundtrack on this guitar, and then used it to compose every Silent Hill soundtrack he worked on thereafter. The SOUL of Silent Hill resides within this guitar. There’s a high possibility that it’s haunted!

The guitar also comes with two effects amps used while making the game soundtracks; a Line 6 FB4 and a Line 6 POD. Akira says that using these amps you can recreate any sound from the Silent Hill series!

This guitar was also used by Akira at the Video Games Live series of concerts!

When we asked Akira if he was willing to put his Silent Hill ‘mojo’ up for auction, he replied that it was a small thing compared to the losses the people of Touhoku suffered due to the earthquakes and tsunamis.

The winning bidder will also receive a personalized autograph on the guitar from Akira.

Truly, this is a special, sentimental auction, and it would make a wonderful addition to any musician or Silent Hill fan’s collection. Don’t miss out on a chance to own a piece of gaming history!

Silent Hill Series:

  • Silent Hill
  • Silent Hill 2
  • Silent Hill 3
  • Silent Hill 4
  • Silent Hill: Origins
  • Silent Hill Homecoming
  • Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

The biding is already up to $1,300…makes me wish I was richer!

Confirmed! Deborah Kara Unger is Dahlia and Kit Harington is Vincent

Posted By: Whitney   March 27th, 2011 | 3:54 pm

Michael Bassett Director of Silent Hill Revelation has updated his blog and discusses how filming went this past week in Galt, Cambridge Ontario.

He was a little bummed about the weather delaying the shooting but is pleased with what his got so far. As for all the set pictures popping up on the internet he said security was pretty much no existent so he wasn’t surprised. It’s a little annoying but he’s not too worried since people are seeing things out of context.

The big news is that Deborah Kara Unger is returning as Dahlia and Kit Harington is Vincent IS the Vincent we know and love from Silent Hill 3. Bassett had this to say about Kit playing Vincent:

As for Kit Harington as Vincent. Well, I knew that would get you all fired up. I’ve never made any secret that this is going to be an adaptation of the game and not a slavish reproduction. So for me I can say that I always found Vincent in the game a fascinating but ultimately redundant character. He’ seemed to me to have no purpose in the narrative other than to offer a counterpoint view of what the Order/Claudia are doing. He is, if you like, the acceptable face of the zealots. His ideas and dialogue are interesting and I wanted to preserve some of that but I also wanted to use him in a more dynamic and interesting way for the film narrative. How it plays out in the movie, you’re simply going to have to wait and see but I don’t think it’s going to be exactly what any of you think. (or maybe it is. I don’t know.) Will some of you hate it? Absolutely. Because it is different. But will others maybe think it’s a neat twist on what you would expect? I hope that too.

I definitely interested to see what this new and younger Father Vincent will bring to the movie. How about you guys?
