Konami Please… [Updated]
Posted By: Whitney April 26th, 2015 | 10:35 amDon’t drag this out any longer.
The signs are all there: Kojima is leaving, P.T. is being pulled from PSN, and now this sad quote regarding Silent Hills from Guillermo del Toro during the San Francisco International Film Festival last night:
“It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.”
Will you just confirm that Silent Hills is cancelled already? 🙁
[Update]
Apparently the Guillermo quote that was passed around today was taken a bit out of context. The “it’s not going to happen” was in regards to collaborating with Kojima, not whether or not the game has been cancelled. As of right now Silent Hills’ status remains up in the air. This is the time to say something one way or another Konami. 🙁
Agree with you completely Whitney. Konami does nothing but erode whatever goodwill remains in the fanbase by not telling us exactly what is happening with the game. Bad news does not grow better with time. It’s either continuing under a new team, or is not happening in the current incarnation.
Thing is, Konami has their Play Test/Playable Teaser and they know there is a market for it. The tech is obviously in place already. Not doing it makes less sense than doing it. They’d just be flushing cash down the loo – cash they’ve already spent, as texturing and coding P.T. will have been costly, particularly to just push it aside.
I’m signing to support Whitney. Konami should do the right thing that both makes good business sense and benefits the community.
As If things couldn’t get any worse with Konami they’re now apparently ditching consoles games for mobile? Are they serious? This is Konami remember so probably. Silent Hill is officially dead now unless Konami sell the IP on to someone other company sadly I don’t think is going to happen.
