Silent Hill Revelation FB Poster Contest Winners!
Posted By: Whitney July 17th, 2012 | 10:04 amThe winners were announced in the Silent Hill Revelation FB Poster Contest (fan page no longer it’s now the official facebook page for the movie!) last week while I was away at Comic Con! The three winners all got a copy of the Lakeside Amusement Park poster used on the set of Silent Hill Revelation!
I was able to nab the top spot for the award decided on by fan votes on the page! “The one who will lead us to Paradise with blood stained hands!” It was a really close race at the end the standings were as follows:
Whitney Chavis – 1556 votes
Youssef Sourgo – 1532 votes
Levi Stapler Titus – 1036 votes
Manthos Lappas (from Inner Fear) – 771 votes
I won by 24 votes…I couldn’t believe it! Words can’t express enough love for all my friends, family and strangers who voted and got others to vote for my entry during the contest…especially in the last few hours! You guys are all awesome and I definitely couldn’t have done it without all your help. THANK YOU SO MUCH! You guys made this Silent Hill fan so very happy
The second award “Well, the guest of honor has arrived. Let’s get this party started” chosen by special guest Alex Tuis, concept artist for Silent Hill Revelation 3D, went to Manthos Lappas!
Tuis said he chose Manthos as a winner because
Runner Ups also chosen by Alex Tuis for this category were:
Whitney Chavis
David Godfrey
Aidan Reale-Key
Kryss Benton
I was totally surprised I was also a runner up in this category as well! It was such an honor to find out that out of the near 200 entries in the contest my design was one of those singled out that concept artist for the film as a runner up! 🙂
Finally there was the random prize draw winner, “Dead people don’t cry,” for following @emaninTdot went to Cory Cannibal (@TechnoFreaxx)
Congrats everyone!

That’s awesome! Congratulations!
Thanks Kyle 🙂
See, this was my problem with the rest of the poster designs; none of them (IMPO) captured the true essence of the games through the lens of the movies. I realize that Heather goes to the amusement park twice in SH3, and Harry goes once in SH, but that’s it (note: I haven’t played SH:SM). I feel like the Alchemillia Hospital has greater meaning in the context of the series, particularly plot lines involving Heather. So, why did a large number of the posters feature elements almost entirely exclusive to Lakeside (Robbie, roller coasters, the haunted house)? My assumption was just that those who were interested in designing posters were given an “image starter pack” of sorts, and that a lot of the pictures were Lakeside related.
Now, to compare with your poster: You’ve got the main character right on there (a nice touch for those who haven’t experienced any of the games before), prominent, but not overbearing. The shattered glass effect looks great (and is a nice tie-in to Shattered Memories, if you want to make that stretch). You’ve got the ‘Halo of the Sun’, which, again, is an element which is prevalent throughout the series. Maybe I’m just biased because it’s one of my favorite lines from SH3, but the ‘blood-stained hands’ quote visually looks good, and adds an air of mystery and intrigue for those who haven’t played the games. I also really like that you chose red and green, rather than orange and blue, for your palet, unlike every other horror film poster.
Of course, the fact that you did all those things is probably the exact reason Alex didn’t choose yours first; Hollywood has no desire to shake things up or try new things. If you have no idea what Silent Hill is all about, and you see some freaky looking horse-thing, you’re probably going to continue to have no clue what it’s about. Now, this is not to say I didn’t like Manthos’ poster; I think it’s really slick. The way the Ferris Wheel spokes draw the eye inward to the horse’s eye is a nice touch. I guess I just feel that the one he chose is more of a teaser poster than a legitimate movie poster.
But, again, congratulations and great work 🙂
@Adam Black – Wow thank you! Your comment really brightened my day! I’m glad you are pleased my poster won one of the prizes and liked the design. I was pretty bummed to see on Friday that some people didn’t think my poster wasn’t a very good design claiming I won unfairly because I have a SH site 🙁 Again, thank you for your lovely comment!
