Hey is the game out NOW and I missed the memo??? [update] Yes I have it in hand *pics*!
Posted By: Whitney December 3rd, 2009 | 7:22 amI just got a shipment confirmation email from Gamestop.com. Seriously, I went to track my order and it says it’s OUT FOR DELIVERY near my work, right now, as in TODAY. I might get to play the game TONIGHT!? Anyone else receive shipment emails? Get calls from Gamestop?
[EDIT] I GOT IT! Though no soundtrack 🙁 I’ll have to email Gamestop about it!
[EDIT 2] My order is still open on Gamestop.com and says that it includes a soundtrack that’s “backordered” hopefully that means I will get it shipped sometime next week 🙂
Technically, the game is not out now. The release date still stands at Tuesday, December 8, 2009 for the Wii version in North America.
With that said, retailers usually ‘ship on availably’. GameStop.com had Shattered Memories in at least one inventory warehouse (not sure if they have multiple warehouses) on Wednesday morning.
I will receive the Silent Hill: Shattered Memories game, soundtrack, and guide on Friday! 😀
Well, even if they send it I don’t think it will make that much of a difference… It’s only 3 days left. But it would be nice to get it earlier and play during the weekend! Have fun with your game while I’m waiting. 😡 Anyway, good luck on it and have fun. 😀
Firefox… I don’t know Whitney, I just don’t know. *partial sarcastic head swivel*
What shipping speed did you pay for?
Go Opera 10.10!
Firefox rocks! I did the fastest, I believe next day. I usually do that so I would get it the day people pick it up from the stores..without having to go to the store after work 🙂
Man, I’m jealous. This is going to be my first foray into Silent Hill (minus the movie. I’ve also been a Nintendo fanboy, thus no console to play any Silent Hill games til now.) so I’m antsy to get my hands on it too.
And yes, Firefox indeed rocks. =v)
@Brandon:
I was under the impression that they ship on availability only after the date, seeing as their site says “WILL SHIP DECEMBER 8, 2009”.
You Firefox people need remember who invented many of the features used by Windows Internet Explorer and Firefox. Opera is responsible for many modern Web browser technologies and over-achieves at those IE and FF try to mimic. Not to mention it has the best secure track record, most standards compliant, and has available binaries for all major operating environments.
Per comparison, Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo conceived the Silent Hill series, which was hijacked by Konami’s corporate politics that ultimately lead to the Americans utterly ruining the series. Should KCET let foreigners develop Silent Hill? Should Glen Beck write Shakespeare works? Should you trust Firefox for Web browsing needs? The answer to all is a resounding no!
Whitney, GameStop did the same promotion with Silent Hill 4: The Room by bundling it with the soundtrack (exclusive to them) with all pre-order of the game while supplies lasted. I recall receiving the soundtrack by mail days after the game arrived. There should have been an enclosed letter affirming this. If not, definitely get in contact with them and be appraised of the current situation.
I think it’s awesome that you got it so early. Lucky. I’m having to wait on the PS2 version either way, but still, good for you, Whitney. 😀
Yuki, it states it will ship on that date- Tuesday, December 8- since that is the release date afterall. As I alluded to earlier, most retailers will ship out to customers earlier once they have inventory of the product.
Mid-January 2010, cascade, for the North American release of the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
@ Brandon: Dude the Americans only made one Silent Hill-Silent Hill Homecoming.
As for my cd my order is still “open” on the site (says the game shipped) and lists the soundtrack “backordered.” This happened before with a promo and I recieved it a little later…since I got the game earlier I assume I’ll get it next week sometime. 🙂
I’m so excited, glad I was lazy and ordered online!
KDE (Konami Digital Entertainment) America is the “producing body” of Origins, Homecoming, and Shattered Memories. You are correct about Silent Hill 5: Homecoming being the only fully developed game on USA soil, since Climax studio is presently based in the United Kingdom.
It’s just a web browser. Jesus. Why must you make it seem anyone and everyone is wrong who uses IE, FF, vote republican or uses Maya?
Whitney, without pre-ordering it I called all the local GameStops and they won’t budge with selling the game early. You get the whole weekend to enjoy it. Dammit you’re lucky!
John, for the record, I used and much preferred Maya when Alias was an independent company. AutoDesk’s sole reason to buyout Alias was sheer greed enabled by the monetary system and our conditioned, influent drive to capitalize on profits. As for the GOP, we’ll discuss that latter (for Whitney’s sake).
Whitney, where was the location of the origin scan listed on the UPS online tracker? I am curious to know if GameStop.com has more than one inventory depot. Also, do you need scans from the game guide?
I hate to post this on Whitney’s site but your constant verbal judgements of everyone who doesn’t agree with you on public domains is making me.
I never asked you to criticize my poltical standpoint or make statements about Autodesk being greedy. For starters, it’s a business, so, yeah, they are going to buy out the competition. It was what we were trained to use since almost all major businesses who have a purpose to use software like this use it (that or 3dsMax). So why wouldn’t I use it?
I briefly mention my political standing… on a Silent Hill forum… and a steady flow of posts by you about why Republicans are seemingly universally “wrong” and an abortion topic bashing Republicans immediately comes up afterwards. Christ Brandon, someone out there votes different than you. Speaking of which, can you not accept the fact that not everyone votes the same as you without having to berate them? Why must everyone conform, agree and see things through YOUR standpoint?
Whitney then posts an update about receiving SH:SM early and sure enough, you have to, supposedly jokingly, criticize her Internet browser of choice. It’s a browser. Is it that big of a deal? Then you post in great detail as to why FF and IE are inferior to Opera. It’s. A. Browser.
Do you think people like to be steadily informed that their interests, hobbies, choices and views are “wrong” by someone? Trust me, I’m not the only one to think this and personally it makes me think less of you every time you do so. People are different. People have varied views on everything in the world. Discuss the differences IF the other party WANTS to discuss it, sure, but don’t CONSTANTLY bring up and cram the same points (which are mainly the other party is “wrong” and that’s all there is to it) about religion and Internet browsers (really?), especially to people who don’t want someone with a borderline God complex saying such points.
Let alone, you somehow manage to bash the American/UK development team of the SH series, Republicans AND an Internet browser in one short paragraph is a feat that’s embrassasingly noteworthy. So damn predictable…
OH HELL NO!
That better not happen with me!
(The soundtrack backorder.)
I guess why thats why I wait?
@Brandon:
I was under the impression that most retailers would ship, y’know, on the shipping date. There’s a reason it’s called that, and I’ve not heard of any other games save Modern Warfare 2 having their street date broken.
Okay! played a little. It look really nice, the voice acting is great in my opinion…I just got to get use to the controls. This is really my first time using a wii more then 2 seconds and I’m quite the “wii-tard.” I’m still trying to get through the first otherworld bit- but so far I’m liking it a lot despite my controlling problems! I’m a little thankful I got this a bit early so I have a chance to hone my wii skillz. Hopefully I’ll get over this learning curve quickly (like I did with the weird new controls for RE5) and search and run like a pro.
You want an idea on how bad I am? IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET THE FRIGGIN KEY OUT OF THE CAN. Seriously, I don’t know what I was doing but I had the hardest time turning the can upside down…those walkthroughs made it look so easy! lol
BTW as a new wii user the pop up hints were very useful. I barely know all the buttons and I wouldn’t of know what the heck to do when monsters started grabbing me.
Now I just got to figure out which hand to hold the flashlight in! I’m a lefty and I keep switching…do I want the light in my dominate hand or the running controls! Good thing I grew up with a bunch of rightys so I’m used to doing a lot of things with my right hand!
I assume once I find my flow this will all be easier but hey I AM HAVING FUN ON A WII despite my wii-tardness…. THIS IS AMAZING (cause I loathed the wii for this very reason before).
Okay off to try to make it to Levin Street again 🙂
@ Brandon no need for scans I plan to get the guide myself this weekend 🙂
As for the location of the warehouse my package came from Louisville Kentucky.
@Ratio – aww that sucks! Well it gives me more time to get use to the wii before everyone and their mom beats the game before me!
I only hope this could happen in Belgium 😛
Whitney,
It looks like you lucked out! 🙂
Not every game or book that comes out has a hard street date (for the uninitiated, the “street date” is the legal date on which the merchandise can be sold to the public and is generally the same as the publicized ship or release date). Most video games and books have what’s called a “soft” street date. This means that merchants can sell their copies as soon as they have available inventory; however, for some high-demand games/books, the street date is a “hard” date and releasing the merchandise in advance of this date can result in seriously hefty fines for the merchant. Both the Final Fantasy VII game on Playstation and most of the Harry Potter books are examples of merchandise that carried a hard street date.
It might be that the game didn’t have a hard street date and Gamestop decided to start filling their pre-orders early so they’d know how many copies they have “left over” for the official release date.
@Ratio, this may also be why they wouldn’t sell you the game: they need to fill their pre-orders before they’ll know their available inventory; so, they probably won’t sell the game to anyone coming in off the street until they’ve fulfilled all their pre-order obligations and then, only after the official release date.
Hey SH Fan,
Yes I definitely did luck out 🙂 Good info on the whole release dates and why I might of gotten my copy early. I take it you work in video game/book retail?
@Whitney – Yes ^__^ During college I worked retail at a video game store for two summers/Christmas breaks. After college I worked for a year at a bookstore.
Interestingly enough, the bookstore was Barnes & Nobel who (if I’m not mistaken) is also the parent company for GameStop now.
@Whitney – YAY! I’ll be waiting around for awhile before I get it. I’m pretty jealous.
@Brandon – What features might those be that were stolen?
Nice, Whitney! I’m glad you got it! I’m A BIT jealous. xD Good luck with the controls 😀 – It’s ok, I think that it’s very confusing and complicated for me too, I looked at the controls a bit and thought “OMG!! How am I supposed to get used to this! Too many damn gadgets. Duh” Also, I can say I had never thought too that maybe I could have a Wii now… (God forbid! J/k 😛 ):) But, you’ll get the hang of it eventually and become a pro. xD
@Sh Fan – Nice theory, thanks for clearing it out! 🙂
@CtotheC – Don’t start the browser, business, w/e thing again… Let’s get over it. I think that it was enough for Whit to get in a difficult position once. It’s way off-topic man… Maybe another time and another place/topic. This is not the reason of being/commenting here.
Whitney, thanks for sharing your experience. 😀 [You like the game I guess… 🙂 )
Oh, and did you decide/figure out how you’ll record it?
@PieceofSheet: Yeah this is really the first time I’ve found enjoyment on the wii. I’m really glad I decided to get a wii to try it out! I’m finally getting the hang of the controls and making great progress.
As for the browser business I’m actually curious myself lol
Still haven’t decided how I will record I will worry about that after I complete the game 😀
I’m so jealous…:( And since I’m in Canada I have Ebgames, which is the same thing, except the only one here are absolute idiots sometimes, as in, not selling the game on release day even if they have the stock AND you pre-ordered it! Then they don’t call you when they have it, or if you go yourself, they’re like…”dur…we don’t have them yet” even if it’s a week past the date, but when you get home there is a message on your answering machine from the morning saying that the game arrived…
Sad Panda 🙁
