Silent Hill Revelation 3D In Theaters Oct 26, 2012!

Posted By: Whitney   April 18th, 2012 | 11:00 am

Variety reports that Open Road Films has acquired the US rights to distribute Silent Hill Revelation 3D and has plans of releasing the film around Halloween! This is wonderful news, especially since producer Don Carmody had feared it wouldn’t be released until next year… I am so excited!

Open Road has acquired U.S. rights to videogame-based sequel “Silent Hill: Revelation 3D” and plans to release the psychological horror pic around Halloween 2012.

The follow-up to 2006’s “Silent Hill,” which opened No. 1 at the U.S. box office and took in nearly $100 million worldwide, stars Adelaide Clemens, Carrie-Anne Moss, Malcom McDowell and “Game of Thrones” thesps Kit Harington and Sean Bean.

“Silent Hill: Revelation 3D” will be released wide October 26. Bean, Deborah Kara Unger and Radha Mitchell return from the original film.

In the sequel, directed by Michael J. Bassett, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father (Bean) have been on the run from mysterious and dangerous forces. She discovers she isn’t who she thinks she is, leading her deeper into a demonic world.

Vidgame maker Konami’s Silent Hill franchise has spawned a comicbook series, graphic novels, and merchandise over the past decade.

New Silent Hill Revelation Fan Set Photos Reveal Memory of Alessa?

Posted By: Whitney   January 2nd, 2012 | 11:30 am

A couple new night shots from the Lakeside Silent Hill Revelation set taken by from Michael Quigg aka EvidencE back spring 2011 have been uploaded to his Google+ account. One picture shows a clearer shot of Pyramid Head on the burning carousel, another shows Michael J Bassett directing the scene while that last and most interesting in my opinion shows what appears to be of Memory of Alessa! I can’t wait to see this movie in action.

Michael J Bassetts Official Blog is Staying Open and a lil Revelation News too!

Posted By: Whitney   January 1st, 2012 | 4:08 pm

Last week we were given the sad news that Michael J Bassett, writer/director of Silent Hill Revelation, was going to shut down his official blog. Well as of yesterday he’s had a change of heart after reading “generous comments everyone left” and was surprised so many people actually “gave a damn.”

In Bassett’s final blog post of 2011 he also revealed that the visual effects for the film are near completion and within the next few days he will hand over the final movie to the “powers that be” and that it’s “up to them to decide what happens to it.” He also mentioned that the score for the film is coming along nicely and that he’s even working on a teaser trailer for the film…but has been distracted as of late by playing Skyrim:

Jeff and Akira have been working all through the holidays to get stuff together for when our final mix begins in a week or so’s time. It sounds terrific so far. All new stuff but with lots of cool themes and ideas from Akira’s previous work. We’re up against a deadline here and it needed to be approved so it can go an be orchestrated and prepared. No rest for the wicked. I was also toying with some footage, trying to cut a short tease trailer that I liked but never did quite finish it. Partly that’s because of…

…Skyrim. I’ve spent waaay too much time in my new gaming chair and hunting dragons. Blame Bethesda, I say.

I’m really excited to see the teaser he’s working on and I’m super happy he’s decided to keep the blog going! I have high hopes for the movie score especially since it will be using themes and ideas from Akira’s previous work. Here’s hoping it will be reminiscent of the original Silent Hill 3 soundtrack!

Some sad news for those eager for more Silent Hill Revelation insights from Director Michael J Bassett during the new year as he’s decided to shut down his blog:

I’ve decided to close this blog as of January 1st. For those of you who enjoyed reading, I thank you for your support and I hope you all have a prosperous and happy 2012. MJB

I’m a little bummed as I would have loved to read his thoughts on the upcoming promotion of the film and the reactions from fans before and after the film’s release.

The Order is in Revelation!

Posted By: Whitney   November 28th, 2011 | 10:41 am

Michael J Bassett, the director up the upcoming Silent Hill Revelation has been answering some fan questions on his blog and revealed that The Order will be the the antagonist of the film:

Jillian: I’ve a couple of questions, if you get any time to answer them. 🙂 Is the Order in SHR, or is it just the cult from the first film? Do you have an idea on the rating yet?

Michael J. Bassett: It is The Order and not the cult from SH1. And no, I don’t know what the rating will be – it depends what country you’re in.

This may seem like a “no duh” considering Revelation is based on Silent Hill 3 but it’s nice to have confirmation from Bassett that we will see the Order and not the return of the wacky Christian cult from the first movie!

Akira Yamaoka and Jeff Danna to compose for Silent Hill: Revelation

Posted By: Whitney   October 31st, 2011 | 8:35 pm

What a nice Halloween treat! Michael J Bassett revealed on his blog today that Akira Yamaoka and Jeff Danna will work together and compose music for Silent Hill: Revelation!

You’ve waited a long time for this announcement, so I figured it was about time I told you all that Jeff Danna along with Akira Yamaoka will be composing the score for Silent Hill 2. Still a few details to be ironed out but I’m confident that nothing stands in the way. I’m really pleased it’s the same team as the first movie as I thought that was a damn fine score. Obviously Akira is one of the greatest game sound designers and composers and he’s a fundamental part of what made Silent Hill the greatest series of survival horror games ever created. Jeff is a hugely gifted composer who has immersed himself in the Silent Hill universe so knows how to bring it all together for cinematic purposes. Together they’re going to blow us all away. Quite how they’re going to work is yet to be decided but I’m raring to get into this part of the process to start hearing what they come up with.

Anyway, just thought you’d like to know. I’ll share some details of our progress as it all develops.

Carrie-Anne Moss on Playing Claudia in Silent Hill Revelation

Posted By: Whitney   October 7th, 2011 | 4:50 pm

IFC caught up with Carrie-Anne Moss and talked with her a little about her role as Claudia in the upcoming Silent Hill Revelation movie and filming in 3D. Pretty interesting:

Carrie-Anne Moss, costar of the big-screen adaptation of the video game “Silent Hill: Revelation,” told IFC that she was inundated with information by the filmmakers in preparation for her role as Claudia Wolf, although she avoided playing the actual video game. “They sent me all of this stuff,” Moss said Friday in a telephone interview for her new film “Fireflies in the Garden.” “It was of what her image sort of looked like and what she felt like, and that was interesting. [But] I didn’t go in and play the game to really see, because I’m not really into that so much.”

In “Silent Hill: Revelation,” Wolf an ostentatious priestess who serves as the main antagonist against Heather Mason, played by Adelaide Clemens. Although she didn’t spend time playing the game to get into character, Moss said that footage from the game was among the materials she used to get into character. “It definitely was part of the conversation with the director, looking at a lot of different footage. And then ultimately this crazy wig and this crazy costume helped me go, there I was!”

Moss previously appeared in the “Matrix” films, playing the ass-kicking, leather clad heroine Trinity. She explained that the costume and make-up is a crucial part of transforming herself into the character. “Oh, totally, right? It’s like you wouldn’t even know it was me,” Moss said. “And the dialogue, too. This woman was powerful and slightly insane, but a zealot who totally believed in what she was doing. So it was pretty intense.”

“Silent Hill: Revelation” also marked Moss’ first foray into 3D filmmaking, which she admitted was a bit of an adjustment from what she was familiar with. “That was a little bit tricky, because they had this 3D camera where you have to shoot things a few times,” Moss explained. “But it wasn’t that it was difficult, it was that it was something I hadn’t done before. Like, every director is a little different, but I know that there’s a way to do it technically. And then all of a sudden there’s this new technique added to it, which is a camera with X, Y and Z.”

“I can’t even remember if we had to be super still or whatever it was, but it was, oh wow, okay, it’s a whole new world of making movies.”

“Fireflies in the Garden” is being released on October 14, 2011.

I was disappointed to see she wasn’t interested in playing the game herself but found comfort in that she was at least shown footage to help her get into character. From her description of Claudia’s character: “powerful and slightly insane, but a zealot who totally believed in what she was doing” it at least seems like her portrayal will stay true to the Claudia we all know and love.
