Silent Hill Shattered Memories Endings
Silent Hill Shattered Memories ending is composed of three and sometimes four different parts with multiple variations that are interchangeable with one another. Below I will take you through each part of the ending an and let you know where you can find variations and tips on how to get the ending you would like to see.
In general terms the overall normal endings are as follows:
Harry and Cheryl have an encounter within the Lighthouse Clinic. This scene is sometimes extended further by a mother daughter reunion in the clinic parking lot, but this depends on your game psych profile. Next is what most consider the main core ending a home movie plays that Cheryl made of her father years ago. An analysis of your game psych profile by Dr. K is shown during the game end credits and is followed by one more small scene featuring Cheryl with all the mementos you may have collected through out the game.
It is possible to unlock a special UFO after you’ve completed the game at least one time. However, since what you need to do is much more involved than the normal endings it has it’s own section on how to go about unlocking it: UFO hunting.
Ending Part 1: The Lighthouse Clinic Meeting:
This first part of the ending is a cut scene of Harry finding Cheryl inside the Lighthouse clinic. In the video below I’ve compiled all three possible the variations:
Meeting Ver. 1 – Cheryl accepts her father’s death and moves on
What happens: Harry and Cheryl meet and have a sad but heartfelt last goodbye. Cheryl is ready to move on with her life without her delusions.
How to get it:
During your time in Silent Hill be as friendly as possible and act like a family man. Answer Dr. K’s family related questions positively during your therapy sessions and during your search try not to look at any heavy sexual or drug references. In general be a nice guy!
- Don’t be a pervert! Do not to linger in the brothel, search through Michelle’s hamper with her lingerie or watch Lisa change.
- When looking for the keys at Michelle’s look in the ‘safer’ areas like the cookie jar, behind the drapes or purse on the table (the most logical place in my opinion).
- Do not stare at alcoholic reference and other drug paraphernalia! This includes staring at Dr. K’s liquor collection during your therapy sessions.
To show that Harry is a friendly guy make sure to answer his cell whenever a character calls you and call them back to check up on them now an again. Two instances come to mind that really help build this impression:
- Give Lisa the color pill she asks for.
- Give Michelle a call back after you receive her text that John is still a no show at the Balkan.
Typically if you have this encounter you will also see mother and daughter hug outside in the clinic parking lot.
Meeting Ver. 2 – Guilt Ridden and Angry Cheryl
What happens: Cheryl is upset and angry. Angry at herself for carrying the blame of Harry’s death and her parents divorce on herself all these years. Harry asks her to forget him and Cheryl wants to move on with her life but she still hasn’t completely forgiven him or herself for what was out of their control.
How to get it:
During your time in Silent Hill be as selfish and stand offish as possible and act like you can’t be bothered with anything. I’ve found that if I’ve been heading for the Drunk Dad, Sleeze and Sirens or Wicked and Weak ending I usually have this encounter.
A good rule of thumb is to answer any friend/family related questions from Dr. K negatively and emphasize it takes you awhile to make friends, love sex or alcohol. Make sure to act like finding Cheryl isn’t your main concern by lingering and staring at non family friendly things.
Meeting Ver 3 – Cheryl is in Denial
What happens: Cheryl is unwilling to let her delusion go and prefers to live in a fantasy world with the perfect father desperately searching for her. They share no goodbye, instead Cheryl clings to her father and refuses to let him or her delusions go.
How to get it:
Unlike the other two meetings I found that this one was most difficult one to get on accident. For Cheryl to be in denial you have to really drive home that you aren’t paying Dr. K’s therapy any attention. This means you must contradict yourself often while answering his questions and refuse to meet his gaze.
In general:
- Answer “No” or “False” to anything Dr. K asks and only saying “yes” to confirm your answers or completion of an activity.
- Do not look at Dr. K. Stare at the the lamp to the left.
- When given an activity put in no effort in completing it:
– Do not color in the ‘Happy Family’ the picture
– Put all the pictures in either the sleeping or dead category
– Do not move any of the figures on the guilt line
– Make two gay couples
– Say all the abstract images are not sexual
Ending Part 2: Cheryl leaves the Clinic:
Depending on your profile you may see this clip after Cheryl and Harry’s meeting in Dr. K’s office.
What happens: Cheryl leaves the clinic emotionally drained and finds comfort in her mother’s embrace in the parking lot.
How to get it:
I’ve found you are most likely to see this seen if you’ve played the family man the entire game.
Ending Part 3: The Home Movie
Video Version 1 – Love Lost
What Happens: With their divorce final Harry has packed the car the leave home. Cheryl videotapes the family’s last goodbye as snow begins to fall on the ground.
How to get it:
During your time in Silent Hill be as friendly as possible and act like a family man. Answer Dr. K’s family related questions positively during your therapy sessions and during your search try not to look at any heavy sexual or drug references. In general be a nice guy!

Video Ver 2 – Sleaze and Sirens
What Happens: We see the beginning of Harry’s sex tape starring Lisa, Michelle and himself in a motel room.
How to get it:
During your time in Silent Hill try be preoccupied with sex. Stare as any sexual images and make sure to involve sex in your conversations with Dr. K.
Opportunities in game to show you are pre-occupied with sex:
- In the initial questionare say you enjoy role-play during sex and you’ve cheated on a partner.
- Stare at the bikini poster in the garage and the rude graffiti in the men’s room in the Fir Tree Garage.
- If you enter Clear picture you can stare at the porno poster with the title “Young Flesh”.
- If you enter Theresa’s stare at the mannequin wearing a bra near the back of the store. When you head upstairs make sure to choose the red jacket with the lacy bra upstairs.
- In the second therapy session make sure to say you perfer to spend time with friends over family
- Look at the used condoms in the bedroom in the Orion Hunting Lodge and the sexy movie poster.
- When talking to any of the female characters stare at their breasts and butts when walking ahead of you.
- Take the time to ogle things in the brothel.
- In the third therapy session make sure to say you were a slut in highschool and you are not a virgin.
- Put “sex education” in your perfect school day.
- Search through Michelle’s hamper with her lingerie peeking out for the SUV keys.
- In the seventh therapy session place all the abstract images in the “sexual side.”
If you are on the right track for this ending Harry will be wearing an unbutton blue shirt and a black leather jacket when he wakes up in Alchemilla Hospital.
Video Ver 3 – Drunk Dad
What happens: Cheryl tapes a drunk and belligerent Harry coming home on camera.
How to get it: During your time in Silent Hill try be preoccupied with drugs and alcohol. Stare at any drug references and make sure to answer positively to anything related to alcohol.
Some good ways to show you are pre-occupied drugs during the game:
- In the initial questionare say you need a drink to relax.
- Stare at Dr. K’s liquor collection during therapy
- Try and enter the Good Old/Ol’ Days bar and meet the bartender. I found that this can be diffcult sometimes! but here’s a sure fire way to get in:
- In the initial questionare say you need a drink to relax.
- Stare at the photo album near the gutted bus. Harry should make a comment saying “it’s not Cheryl’s”
- Look at the 6 pack of Kings beer in the Fir Tree Garage right by the exit door
- Head through Theresa’s
- Look at the pills on the shelf in the bedroom in Orion Hunting Lodge.
- In the third therapy session make sure to say your were a drunk and a slacker in school, and pick sports to fill your school day.
- Look at the bong in the school maintenance room.
If you are on the right track for this ending Harry will have bleary eyes, a 5 o’clock shadow and a green letterman jacket with Kings Beer on the back.
Video Version 4 – Wicked and Weak
What happens: Cheryl catches Dahlia’s verbal and physical abuse of Harry on camera.
How to get it: During your time in Silent Hill be as selfish and stand offish as possible and act like you can’t be bothered with anyone or anything. This means not taking the time to look at the sexual and drug references and ignore phone calls whenever possible. When in a conversation with any of the characters refuse to look them in the eye.
Some good ways to show you are snob and unlikeable during the game:
- In the initial questionare answer “no” to “I always listen to other people’s feelings” and “I make friends easily”
- In the initial questionare answer “yes” to “I prefer abstract ideas” and “Working to a plan or schedule is best”
- Enter Clear Picture
- During the second therapy session say “yes” to being a private person and for people to get to know you. But say “no” to spending time with friends over family.
- In the third therapy session make sure to say you were a bully in highschool
- Fill your perfect school day with academic classes only
- Go through the Planetarium
- Fail to get all the school pictures taken
- When following Lisa and Michelle go off course so they stop talking and tell you to hurry up
- Watch Lisa change, if she’s angry instead of flattered it’s a good sign.
- Give Lisa the wrong color pill
- In the fifth therapy session place Celestine as the most guilty for her death.
- In the seventh therapy session claim all the abstract images are non sexual.
If you are on the right track for this ending Harry will be wearing a green polo and brown pea-coat.
Special Ending – UFO Ending
What happens: Cheryl has some interesting theories on what happened to her father plus some special cameos!

Ending Part 4: End Credits, Analysis and Mementos:
To the right of the screen Dr. K will type out his analysis of your psych profile which can vary between playthroughs. Following the credits is an additional scene with Cheryl boxing up all her old mementos Harry picked up through out the game. If you neglected to pick of anyyou will only see Cheryl close an empty box.
