Shattered Memories Creatures
In Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Harry must flee from the creatures that appear in the frozen Nightmare sequences.
These creatures are known as “Raw Shocks” and their name are a play on the Rorschach test, a psychological test involving inkblots. In the Rorschach test, what you see in the inkblots is based on your perception of the world and the answers can vary from person to person. In Shattered Memories the Raw Shocks change based on the players pysch profile in the game and can vary from person to person.
Ultimately I believe the Raw Shocks are manifestations of Cheryl’s desperate wish to cling to her delusions and happy fantasy life and are used to prevent Harry from realizing the truth.
The Raw Shocks never hurt Harry only wear him down and impede his progress in discovering truths related in particular breakthrough moment during Cheryl’s therapy (the voice mails directly related to the Mason family). These truths revealed about Chery’s past during therapy slowly chip away at at Cheryl’s overall fantasy. If she can stop Harry/herself from digesting these truths she can continue living her fake happy family life. These Raw Shocks are the physical manifestations of Cheryl’s mental resistance during her therapy sessions. This is why the Raw shocks never actually hurt Harry only incapacitate him (and lovingly stroke his head) from knowing the truth. Cheryl’s ultimate goal is to keep Harry and herself in the dark so it is possible for her to continue living in her fantasy world a bit longer.
The Raw Shock Types

Blank Slate
The initial Raw Shocks before the player’s pysch profile has had an affect on their look. They are mainly seen during the first nightmare sequence to the Levin Street address. It’s possible to see this type through out the rest of the game but as you progress deeper into Silent Hill their overall numbers significantly dwindle. Meaning: None, they are the blank slate of the creature. |

Geometric and Sliced
These Raw Shocks are typically seen if the player is headed for the “Love Lost” ending. They have unusually shaped geometric heads and their bodies are made from bits and pieces. Meaning: Their odd shaped heads and sliced bodies could be a representation of the fractured pieces of the “happy life” Cheryl clings to and what also made Harry her knight in shining armor. |

Deformed, Disfigured and Full of Holes
These Raw Shocks are typically seen if the player is headed for the “Wicked and Weak” ending. They have very spindly bodies greatly disfigured and are typically full of holes or greatly concave. Meaning: Their fragile and concave disfigurements could be physical representations of the weak willed personality of the Harry Mason who is verbally and physically abused by Dahlia. |

Bloated with Tumors
These Raw Shocks are typically seen if the player is headed for the “Drunk Dad” ending. They have a bloated appearance and are covered with large clusters of tumors. Meaning: From their bloated appearance I believe these guys are representation of Harry’s drinking vice and sickness. |

Feminine
These Raw Shocks are typically seen if the player is headed for the “Sleaze and Sirens” ending. They have a feminine appearance with large lips, breasts and even high heel feet. Meaning: I believe these are representations of Harry womanizing and pre occupation with sex. |

In-between
Rawshocks who were changing to fit one profile but due to the change in the players test answers or playing a new entity is beginning to form. Meaning: Shows a shift in the player psych profile. |
