There is a distinct disconnect between the Silent Hill Movie and the Silent Hill Games. I know going in I was expected the film to be a direct adaptation of the original Silent Hill game plot but with a a female lead, however instead the film ended up just being an amalgamation of the first two games with some witch burning antics thrown in from left field. Needless to say I was disappointed in this route the film choose to take in only taking inspiration from the first two games in visuals and premise while making a completely different story.  So what was directly taken from the games?

<h2>Familiar Scenes</h2>

Rose’s Entrance into Silent Hill.

Late in the evening Rose is involved in a high speed chase with Officer Cybil Bennett on the road leading into the closed town of Silent Hill.  She’s determined to make it to the town fro her ill daughter and doesn’t want the nosy officer to hinder her mission. While Rose is distracted by her screaming daughter and loud static blaring from her radio Dark Alessa steps out into the middle of the road.  Rose jerks the wheel hard to avoid Alessa and it sends her jeep offroad and ultimately results in her being knocked unconscious.  When Rose awakes to she finds the passenger side door wide open, her daughter  Sharon missing from the front seat, and ash falling from the sky. Sick with worry Rose ventures forward into a foggy Silent Hill to find her daughter.

Harry’s Entrance into  Silent Hill.

It’s late at night and Harry and Cheryl are driving into to Silent Hill for a much needed vacation. As Cheryl dozes in the front seat Officer Cybil Bennett passes the pair on her motorcycle. Shortly there after Harry spots her crashed vehicle on the side of the road and Cheryl wakes
