Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut Hands On Quick Report and New Screens!

April 6th, 2013 | 10:28 am   By: Whitney

Hi Guys! I got the chance to play a bit of Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut at the end March. It was a lot of fun and definitely has me even more pumped for the game’s release later this month!

One thing that really stood out for me was the game’s new camera. In Director’s Cut it is no longer locked in place giving you the option to move it all around York and zoom into game details without having to aim a weapon! This definitely comes in handy if you want to get a good look at all interesting details of Greenvale. I had fun reading all the Engrish posters in Greenvale Hospital myself!

Driving in Greenvale is really improved compared to the 2010 release as well. The steering is a lot tighter overall making it easy to keep the car on the road and not drifting into hills/bushes/buildings etc!

As for the over all controls…well admittedly I had some difficulty with the new control scheme but I blame that on the original controls being banded in my mind (it probably also didn’t help I was playing the original the night before too!). I was definitely the only one with this problem as everyone else I observed were mowing down Shadows without a hitch!

Besides trying the game for a bit I was also able to to get some confirmations on a few things:

  • There’s no leaderboards :(
  • The game map doesn’t zoom out at all.
  • Story/dialogue remains unchanged between the 2010 original release and the Director’s Cut.
  • Added content can be found only in the new prologue, epilogue and 10 new cut scenes found in between chapters of the game. Swery originally wanted to add some more diving conversations but this idea was nixed… but there’s a chance we can see these new conversations up on his blog after the game’s release!
  • All DLC that is being offered as pre-order bonuses will also be available for sale on PSN so you won’t miss out on anything!

New Screens!
I love the new details added to the Shadows! They look more like the undead now with their gashes and bruises don’t you think? :)

Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut Pre-Order DLC for US and UK Details Revealed [Update]

March 23rd, 2013 | 10:13 am   By: Whitney

While scoping out the various stores the Official Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut site links to pre-order the game I noticed that stores in the US and UK now display what their DLC pre-order bonuses are!

US DLC Pre-Order Bonuses

In the US if you pre-order from Amazon or Gamestop you will receive a special suit for York to wear.

Amazon is offering the “Field Ops suit” that when worn will increase York’s HP and Attack Power times three.

Pre-order Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut and get the Amazon exclusive Field Ops suit, increasing HP and Attack Power x3. Greenvale can be a dangerous place. Dress to kill with the fashionable and imposing Field Ops suit to enhance attack and strengthen defense. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. Access code will be emailed within two business days after your order ships. This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. Limited to one per customer order. Please read the PlayStation Network terms of use.

While Gamestop is offering the “Espresso Suit” which will increases York’s tolerance to hunger and tiredness times three.

Pre-order Deadly Premonition The Director’s Cut now to receive the GameStop Exclusive Espresso Suite!

Espresso Suit

-Tolerance to Hunger and Tiredness x3

When working on a mysterious murder case, trivial things such as eating and sleeping just end up getting in the way. Fear not! With the stylish and snappy Espresso Suit York can keep going all night.

Online Customers: Code will be emailed within 2 business days after your order ships.
Store / In-Store Pickup Customers: Code will be printed on your receipt at time of pickup.

I have to the say that between two DLC suits offered in the US Amazon’s seems most useful as I never had too much trouble keeping York awake and fed through out the game.

UK DLC Pre-Order Bonuses

Meanwhile across the pond Amazon.co.uk offers the same “Field Ops” suit as the site’s US counterpart described above Well Amazon.co.uk now says it’s offering a “Survivor Pack pre-order bonus” whatever that is! No pictures on the site just yet. (Thanks Ross!)

while Shopto.net is offering up something completely different.

When you pre-order from Shopto.net you will receive the “Transporter Pack” DLC that contains four brand new rides, each with their own special attribute described below, for York to cruise around Greenvale. Unfortunately there aren’t any pictures of these new rides just yet.

Deadly Premonition: The Directors Cut Transporter Pack DLC

Includes: The Devil’s Red, The Blue GT, The Green Drifter and the Chibi Chibi Bang Bang Car.

- The Devil’s Red: Increased max speed and faster acceleration – Everyone knows red paint makes you go faster and this car is no exception. Pick up the keys to The Devil’s Red and hold on to the seats!

- The Blue GT: Enhanced handling – Dodging down side streets and weaving through traffic is inevitable in those heated moments. The Blue GT will never let you down with its improved handling and stability.

- The Green Drifter: Expert car able to drift – Some like to live life on the edge. The Forest Green is a car for the thrill-seekers. Drift your way through Greenvale in this expert car for maximum respect.

- Chibi Chibi Bang Bang Car: Skin only – Not all cars were made equal and this car is certainly in a league of its own. Become an ultimate fan with this chibi decorated Deadly Premonition police car.

If you pre-order the Director’s Cut through the EU PSN you can receive “Suit-Up & Transporter packs” DLC. (Thanks Ross!) The Director’s Cut hasn’t popped up for pre-order on the US PSN just yet but I hope there’s a similar deal.

I have the say the new rides for York sounds pretty appealing as well, it’s too bad I’m not in the UK!

Director’s Cut – US and UK Release Dates and DLC Pre-order Bonuses!

March 20th, 2013 | 5:54 pm   By: Whitney

If you aren’t sure whether or not to pre-order the Director’s Cut (releasing April 26 in Europe and April 30th in the US) maybe this will tempt you!

If you pre-order from certain retailers in North America and the UK (detailed below) and you will receive some sort of exclusive downloadable content. Unfortunately neither press release I received detailed what the content is but I have to say I’m intrigued!

It seems though according the Rising Stars Games UK Press Release that EU Playstation Plus members will also have an addition DLC incentive as well (again no details on the particulars of this content have been revealed). I hope that’s something US Playstation Plus members can expect as well!

UK Press Release

From now through to its UK release date, fans who pre-order the highly anticipated title (from participating retailers) will receive exclusive downloadable content. Participating retailers across the UK include GAME, Amazon, and will also include a group of dedicated independent retailers via Advantage Distribution. In addition, Rising Star Games is excited to be working closely with Sony Entertainment Network on a digital pre-order incentive that will be offered exclusively to Playstation®Plus members.

For gamers who have yet to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, Rising Star Games has teamed up with Sony to offer customers a free 30-day trial membership of PlayStation Plus. This will be available on a limited run of Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut and is exclusive to boxed retail copies.

The dedicated website for Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut lists the retailers across all territories who are participating in the campaign: www.deadlypremonitionthegame.com.

North American Press Release

From now through its North American release date of April 30, 2013, fans who reserve the highly-anticipated title (from participating retailers, including Amazon.com and Gamestop) will receive downloadable content so plush, that Agent York (and Zach) will feel like their investigation in the small country town of Greenvale just turned into a vacation.
