Now for more questions:

Our new town - what's the name of it?
What exactly is happening in this new town (aside from possibly 'Red Seed Murders')?
What drives the GM-controlled characters in the story?
What items/weapons should be made?

All I can think of now for town names are Springcreek and Coldgrove. Not necessarily creative so you can try to think of some.

Hmm...as for things happening, I'm not sure. Missing children? Some strange events that no one can explain, which is pretty vague. Burning down of buildings? Sorry I can't think of ANYTHING tonight. I'll think about it tomorrow. Unless someone can think of stuff?

I really like the name Coldgrove. That already sounds spooky. I like the idea of children/people going missing, too, actually. These are nice ideas, but please keep them coming, people. More ideas - more to work with!

I don't know how much time I actually have for RP (I'm spending way to much time with DP as it is given my homework load... Errrrgh) but... I would still love to know the story behind Catwoman. Something with missing children would be cool, if we can think of a new spin to put on it. Hey, maybe Mr. Stewart can just make his film around whatever we come up with in here!

Mmm... Going off of what was suggested... An unknown arsonist. But nobody in the town seems particularly in a hurry to find out who's doing it, they've just gotten really good at building fireproof houses. Everything is fireproof. Nobody wears long hair, very little electrical appliances are used except in complete safety, NO CANDLES, no lighters or cigarettes (sorry, York!), etc. Except... There's this one torch in the middle of the town square that is ALWAYS kept burning. Nobody is allowed to go near it. Despite this rule, it never seems to go out. (I don't know what's behind all of this, just making stuff out of my head.)

TOWN NAMES: I like Coldgrove too, especially weird if mysterious fires keep happening. I also had ideas for other stories involving a little town called WEST HAVEN, except the local kids always called it FESTERHAVEN. "MAPLE KEYS" sounds pleasantly innocuous too. These were all names for stories I was planning but I don't mind if they get used here first.

Are the Outsiders FBI agents or just people moving to the new town or whatever?

The only RPs I've ever dabbled on (years and years ago) were really free-flowing things with no combat systems or statistics or anything... Just pure storytelling. So someone might have to explain the rules to me.

As soon as we decide exactly the setting and how it will run, I'll draw up formal rules/guidelines/etc. that will/should be easy to follow even for someone who is new at roleplaying.

I was thinking the same thing! I'll at least give it a try once we get this thing going.

I feel we should have at least 1 or 2 outside FBI agents, maybe some inside cops that we could play as too.

So how do we come up with a plot here without spoiling things?? Also if there's going to be agents, we need a crime. Can we narrow it down to MISSING CHILDREN vs MYSTERIOUS ARSONIST then? I like both ideas; the children one has a lot of potential but I'd like there to be some kind of twist on it since it's been done before. I mean it'd be too obvious if it was something like "and the whole town was secretly sacrificing them to the devil"... I think most of the townsfolk should be genuinely upset.

Coldgrove still sounds good.
