Okay, I've had a copy I bought off eBay for a month or so, but I don't have a PS2! My friend's brother might lend one to me but it'll probably be after Christmas until I can play it. Has anyone else played this game? I told SWERY I had it and he got all excited and said I needed to play it through twice in order to learn "the truth"... I'm assuming he means with both the male and female character.

I did watch the first little cut scene and did the part where they drop you out of an airplane and you have to parachute through a field of air mines and I had no idea what was going on. I think I was supposed to be infiltrating a base. Anyway, I'm looking (or not looking) forward to disguising myself as Kaysen!

I haven't played it myself but I have to say I'm curious! I'll see if I can find a copy :) Have you tried looking for a LP online?

This trailer is... They even crib lines from "A Few Good Men"! Also apparently the voice acting and script is not what was used in the final game, but I'll bet it's over-the-top anyway. The comments are pretty revealing, too. Not at all what I've heard of the game.

There's kind of a walkthrough floating around out there but judging by the comments I think I'm going to wait until I can play it myself. Let's see... It got low-to-mediocre reviews when it came out, was dismissed as being just a crappy rip-off of MSG or Mission Impossible, but still had a handful of people claiming the reviews didn't get that it was supposed to be a spoof and campy as hell with an even smaller segment of that group loving it for its uniqueness, story and WTF factor despite its flaws.

Sounds familiar, Zach! :cookie:

Yeah I picked this up a month or 2 ago from a local gamestop, its in great condition, box, disc, and manual. I told the dumbass at the register I was getting it cause it was created by the makers of Deadly Premonition and he hadn't heard of that game (hence calling him a dumbass) who do they hire at gamestop these days. Have you guys had similar rediculous experiences at Gamestop? I guess its better than the employee who thinks he knows it all and has "already played" Resistance 4. Anyway, back to Spy Fiction. I was actually way into MGS earlier this year cause of Peace Walker, enough so that I replayed 3 and 4 about twice each, I was just moving on to DP and other titles when I got Spy Fiction so I wasn't so much in the stealth mood and I had other stuff to play. I'll definitely give it a playthrough or 2 soon though. Get yourself a BC PS3 though, that's your best bet. I play PS2 games on my PS3 as much or more than PS3 games.

No Gamestop, in Canada we got EB Games. It was in a smaller city and I was getting a copy for my siblings. The cashier's (a young lady) eyes actually lit up when I said "Deadly Premonition" and she said it made the front page of the local free newspaper! On the other hand there always seem to be a fat guy hanging around every time I talk about the game in public who acts shocked and disgusted that I actually like it, so I guess it evens out. The fat guys all look the same, too.

The reason I say PS2 is 'cuz my friend's brother is lending one to him; I don't even have a TV at the moment... And no money for PS3 either. Someday, though. Someday.

Watch your local classifieds. I just snagged an 80gb BC PS3 with a broken optical drive for $50. $40 more to replace that and I'll have a fully functional PS3. It came with a Dualshock 3 and guitar hero 3 lodged in the drive. Those 2 alone justify my purchase. I may even skip fixing it, buy one of those PSJailbreaks and just play games straight off the hard drive. I've seen similar deals a lot. Brand new slims for $200.

Besides the fact that Forrest Kaysen is also in SF, are there any other connections/similarities?

Also how similar is Forrest Kaysen in SF to the character in DP? Other than the fact they look alike.

I didn't read too closely into it for fear of spoilers, but there's apparently this facility that's creating a deadly purple gas, and General Lysander is in it too.

I'm going to wait until we get spoiler tags up on this here forums (Whitney is looking into it since I'm useless with coding) but this article should answer your question: SPY FICTION AT LEVELFORTYTWO.

Very cool, I had no clue about the purple gas or that the general was in it as well. I've been watching some game play videos on youtube and it looks like a pretty fun game, and has some great music as well.

I've played and beaten the game twice, I can tell you all about it.

However, I am pressed for time at the moment. Give me a couple hours and I can answer some questions.
