Christmas Has Come Early – Swery Has Put Work into a Deadly Premonition Sequel?

November 26th, 2013 | 10:13 am   By: Whitney

During an interview with GamingBolt about his work on the upcoming Xbox One exclusive D4 Swery mentioned that he’s also put some work into a Deadly Premonition sequel while setting up the framework for the Director’s Cut

Ravi Sinha: After Deadly Premonition, what various ideas did you eventually cycle through before settling on D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die?

SWERY: After producing Deadly Premonition, I started work on production of the Lord of Arcana series right away, and during that time I was already working on the planning and pre-production of D4. So you could say that I’ve been working on D4 for about the past 2~3 years or so. Looking back at the original plans, there are some parts which have changed greatly a lot, and some parts which haven’t changed a bit. At the same time I was also working on the sequel to Deadly Premonition and the framework for the Director’s Cut.

This isn’t an official announcement or anything mind you but the fact Swery has put some work into a sequel certainly has me excited! I will definitely keep my eyes and ears open…maybe there will be an announcement some time soon?

However, be forewarned that some of these questions/answers contain spoilers!

Trivia Questions – One per person!

1.) How did the A&G Diner get its name?

2.) What does York like to talk about while driving?

3.) On what occasion do all the stores close in town?

Deadly Premontion Cosplayers Needed!

September 23rd, 2013 | 10:11 am   By: Whitney

Have a Deadly Premonition cosplay? Going to Kumoricon 2014 in Vancouver, WA? Valkyrie542 is planning on setting up a Deadly Premonition themed photoshoot during the con!

I’m planning on cosplaying as Emily Wyatt from the video game Deadly Premonition (Red Seeds Profile in Japan). I’d really like to get together with some people who will cosplay as other characters from the game such as York, George, Thomas or anyone, really.

So, is anyone interested?

If you’re interested, you can comment on this thread or you can send me a PM and we can chat about plans privately.

Also, if you would like some help making props for your costume, I’d be happy to make some and bring them to the photoshoot – just ask!

If you are interested in participating drop by the Deadly Premonition Cosplay group thread on the Kumoricon forums and let Valkyrie542 know BEFORE August 2014!

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut Launch Giveaway – “Hey, Zach, have a cup of coffee on us”

May 7th, 2013 | 2:47 pm   By: Whitney

Greetings all, David Bruno, the North American public relations representative for Rising Star Games here. You may have already heard the news, but in the instance that you haven’t, last week we released Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut across North America. And to celebrate the game’s release we feel that a little fan appreciation is in order. After all, The Director’s Cut wouldn’t have been possible without you, the fans! So we want you to have a cup of coffee on us so to speak.

Starting today, Tuesday, May 7, through Tuesday, May 21 (that’s a whole two weeks) head to your favorite coffee shop, order your favorite drink, and tell the barista that your name is “York” when they asked for your name to write on the cup. I know, I know, this may be a bit difficult if you’re not paying with cash and happen to be using a credit/debit card: they’re gonna’ be all like “…but sir, your card clearly reads David Bruno on the front, and it’s even signed as such on the back.” This is where you get to be all super slick like and bust out the “Just call me York; that’s what everyone calls me” line. Awwwww yeah.

Once you pick up your tasty beverage here’s how to enter: snap a picture of the name “York” as appears written on the cup by the barista and tweet the following message:

@RisingStarGames @RedSeedsProfile Please, just call me York. That’s what everyone calls me. #DeadlyPremonition

Your entry should look somewhat similar to this:

IMPORTANT: Please be sure to follow us on Twitter so we can message you in the instance that you win one of the following prizes up for grabs.

Here is a full list of the prizes:

George Prize Level: 5 x $5 Starbucks giftcards – $25

Thomas Prize Level: 5 x pre-order DLC codes (of our choosing)

Emily Prize Level: 2 x PSN vouchers for Deadly Premonition: TDC

York Prize Level (grand prize): 1x Physical copy of Deadly Premonition: TDC, 1x pre-order DLC code, 1x $5 Starbucks giftcard

Here’s how we’ll pick the winners: After the two-week entry period ends on Tuesday, May 21 at 11:59PM PST, a drawing will be held at random to select the winners using You may enter once per cup, per person, per day…basically once a day. Please keep the pictures “safe for work.” I know how wild and crazy you kids can get. 😉 Open to North Americia only

Now go get percolatin’, @DavidBruno

Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut Hands On Quick Report and New Screens!

April 6th, 2013 | 10:28 am   By: Whitney

Hi Guys! I got the chance to play a bit of Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut at the end March. It was a lot of fun and definitely has me even more pumped for the game’s release later this month!

One thing that really stood out for me was the game’s new camera. In Director’s Cut it is no longer locked in place giving you the option to move it all around York and zoom into game details without having to aim a weapon! This definitely comes in handy if you want to get a good look at all interesting details of Greenvale. I had fun reading all the Engrish posters in Greenvale Hospital myself!

Driving in Greenvale is really improved compared to the 2010 release as well. The steering is a lot tighter overall making it easy to keep the car on the road and not drifting into hills/bushes/buildings etc!

As for the over all controls…well admittedly I had some difficulty with the new control scheme but I blame that on the original controls being banded in my mind (it probably also didn’t help I was playing the original the night before too!). I was definitely the only one with this problem as everyone else I observed were mowing down Shadows without a hitch!

Besides trying the game for a bit I was also able to to get some confirmations on a few things:

  • There’s no leaderboards :(
  • The game map doesn’t zoom out at all.
  • Story/dialogue remains unchanged between the 2010 original release and the Director’s Cut.
  • Added content can be found only in the new prologue, epilogue and 10 new cut scenes found in between chapters of the game. Swery originally wanted to add some more diving conversations but this idea was nixed… but there’s a chance we can see these new conversations up on his blog after the game’s release!
  • All DLC that is being offered as pre-order bonuses will also be available for sale on PSN so you won’t miss out on anything!

New Screens!
I love the new details added to the Shadows! They look more like the undead now with their gashes and bruises don’t you think? :)

Eager to win a Swery signed Deadly Premonition canvas? Rising Star Games has finally revealed the details of their Deadly Premonition art contest teased a few weeks ago!

You can make any sort of Deadly Premonition themed art including character art, comics, digital art, traditional art and photography. No word yet if you are limited to only one entry. I’ve made inquiries though and as soon as I hear something back update this post! I was informed that you can submit as many entries as you want!

Once you have your entry completed you must to submit it to the Rising Star Games DeviantART page before 23:59 (GMT) on Monday 15th April 2013!

The entries will be judged on creativity, talent and keeping in the spirit of Deadly Premonition. First, second and third prize winners will each receive an exclusive Deadly Premonition canvas signed by Swery, as seen on the Rising Star Games facebook page.

I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with! I better figure out what I’m going to submit myself!
