GDC 2012: Deadly Premonition PS3 enhanced version teased [UPDATE]

March 8th, 2012 | 12:58 pm   By: Whitney

Deadly Premonition executive producer Yasuhiro Wada teased at GDC that they are working on an PS3 release of the game for the West WITH EXTRA CONTENT! I can’t wait to find out more at E3 2012!

The original game came out on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan, but, “We faced some challenges… We weren’t able to release the full experience” that was intended, he said. Because of this, the game “was not released on the PS3 in the West.”

Despite its weaknesses, he recognizes that the game has “developed a cult following.”

He said he hopes to announce that this will change — hinting at a new, enhanced version of the original game. “We’re working on a PS3 release. We still have a few hurdles to overcome, but hopefully we’ll be able to show you something at E3,” said Wada.

UPDATE

Joystiq got a little more information apparently this enhanced version will have move support and new “scenarios”

Immediately after ex-Marvelous CEO (and new Toybox Games founder) Yasuhiro Wada let slip news of a new Deadly Premonition PS3 project at GDC, he met with Joystiq for an interview and clarified just what it is. And it’s not a sequel.

Deadly Premonition is being “remastered” and updated for PS3, by a team headed by Swery65, working in concert with the two-man Toybox studio. The new version, which will be further detailed at E3, will include new content, including new “scenarios” — and support for the PlayStation Move. We’re sure the whole thing will make much more sense with motion controls.

Deadly Premonition Special Edition, prequel and sequel? Awesome!

August 23rd, 2011 | 2:00 pm   By: Whitney

During Gamescom 2011 Deadly Premonition director, SWERY mentioned that he and Access Games have plans for not only a special edition of Deadly Premonition with improved graphics but also are planing for both a prequel and a sequel to the game as well!

SWERY also said that none of these plans are set in stone but that fact that they are being considered has me very excited! :D

[UPDATE] Thanks again Edward!

Golden Joystick Awards: Vote for Deadly Premonition!

August 1st, 2011 | 11:07 am   By: Whitney

Deadly Premonition is up for the “Best Action Game” Golden Joystick. Give it your vote!

Best Action Game: Vote for Deadly Premonition!

What is the Golden Joystick Awards?

The Golden Joysticks is the only annual awards that is voted for by gamers – the people who go out and buy the games – not a stuffy voting panel of ‘experts’ who haven’t actually been into a game shop for 10 years. We like to think this adds a degree of authenticity and relevance to our awards.

As well as being very much a ‘people’s choice’ the Golden Joystick Awards is also a fixture of the games industry’s calendar. It stands as one of the few opportunities outside of tradeshows like E3 and GamesCom for the vibrant industry to get together under one roof to celebrate and recognize the year’s greatest gaming achievements.

Small towns all tend to have their secrets.

Just below the calm, homely surface is always a darker side. Perhaps not all of the townspeople know of it, but it’s always there. In the buildings. In the trees. In the soil itself. It waits for the right time to rear its head, but it will, in time. I can promise you that much – you will See it, and when you do, you’ll suddenly be a great deal more interested in town history.

Of course, you won’t See it right away. You’ll hear of it first. Warnings not to go out in the rain. Stories of a man in a bright red raincoat. Stories of a massacre. Stories of wraiths in the dark, Shadows with broken bodies wailing in pain and begging for death.

Naturally, these are all the words of a man meaning to frighten you. They’re just stories…legends. Pay me no mind. No one ever does. Find out for yourself.

Welcome to Greenvale.

Most Wanted: Olivia and Nick Cormack, Ushah Johnson, Keith and Lilly Ingram, Carol McLaine, Quint and Richard Dunn, The General, and business owners.

We are currently accepting both canon Deadly Premonitions characters as well as Original Characters

This is actually quite a lot of fun I play Emily Wyatt and an original character named Todd Thorne :)
