Silent Hill Downpour Xbox 360 Patch is Out!

Posted By: Whitney   October 23rd, 2012 | 11:05 am

So apparently the Downpour Patch for Xbox 360 is out! Rourke from Rely on Horror stumbled upon it this morning when loading a saved game. I don’t have a press release at this time so I don’t know exactly what the patch fixes. What I do know is that it’s supposed to fix the game’s stuttering, saving, and other side quest glitches. Once I have more information I will update this post :)

Update 1

Uh oh…

Uh oh…according to Rourke, the patch has severely messed up his game save. Floating Murphy and a locked door that prevents Murphy from entering the showers, at the start of the game. Anyone else getting the same problem or new ones?

This doesn’t sound good, is anyone else have these sorts of problems after downloading the patch?

Update 2

The Xbox update is also available in Europe.

Source (Rely on Horror) Thanks Cj and Rourke! Also header image stolen from RoH :)

Update 3

It’s looking like Rourke is the only one having these issues which may be due to his Xbox dying…

Update 4

Got the press release today (10/25/12)

The Five Things Silent Hill Downpour Got Right

Posted By: Whitney   April 23rd, 2012 | 10:53 am

So…I was asked to write an article for 1up.com about the 5 things Silent Hill Downpour did right.

To be honest I was flabbergasted and intimidated that such a big video game website would ask someone like me to write this for them. Sure I write on my own websites but this was so different. This article would be seen by a far bigger audience and I was so afraid of fucking it up. Well in the end my enthusiasm for Downpour and the support of family and friends convinced me to give it a shot! I pretty proud of the reasons I came up with. I hope the positives I saw while playing will convince other long time and even new fans to give this title a shot despite the questionable technical issues! I hope you guys will check it out and let me know what you think!

Silent Hill Downpour Review

Posted By: Whitney   March 29th, 2012 | 9:00 pm

Silent Hill Downpour is the eighth core game in the Silent Hill series and it follows Murphy Pendleton as he tries to escape the horrors of the town after his prison-transfer bus crashes nearby. This is the second game released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 systems and was promised to be a true return to the form and styles of the Team Silent era of games. I had very high hopes for the title after two hands on previews and I’m happy to report that despite some technical flaws the game has lived up to the hype and is one of the best post-Team Silent games to date!

Please note while I do not spoil the story there is a very minor gameplay spoiler for an optional sidequest!
